East Asians (Chinese people, Mongolian people, Korean people, and Japanese people) have fewer apocrine sweat glands than most other ethnic groups. The apocrine sweat glands are found in the armpits and around the genitalia, and are responsible for most body odor; the eccrine sweat glands found over most of the body don't secrete anything stinky. It is believed that fewer sweat glands was at one point a useful adaptation to living in cold areas, where sweating could chill the body. They don't totally lack apocrine sweat glands, though - East Asians definitely do have body odor, just a little less of it than the rest of us.

东亚人（中国人，蒙古人，朝鲜人和日本人）比起其他大部分民族拥有更少的顶泌汗腺。顶泌汗腺分布在腋窝里以及生殖器周围，大部分体臭就是由这种汗腺造成的；而分布在身体大部分区域的外分泌汗腺并不会造成体臭。据认为汗腺更少曾经一度有利于适应寒冷区域的生活，因为流汗会让身体感到寒冷。东亚人并非完全缺乏顶泌汗腺，只不过比我们其他人要少。



I lived in Thailand and was daily astounded by the fact that most Thais don’t sweat much (or at least not obviously) in very hot weather, while foreigners in Thailand including East Asian tourists usually sweat a lot. This contradicts your assertion that having fewer sweat glands is a cold-weather adaptation — besides, if that were the case, Northern Europeans would all lack apocrine sweat glands, which they don’t.

I suspect that two of the main factors in body odour are diet and hygiene. In Thailand, I quickly got into the Thai habit of showering at least 3 times per day in the hot season, sometimes up to 5 times per day - quick cooling showers - and I can tell you that this habit alone cuts out most body odour. By comparison, the foreigners I saw in Thailand shower much less.

Ummm. Chinese people do have body odor just like every other human on earth. That is a very misconstrued conception especially since there is a wide availability of deodorants in the modern world or you simply take a shower daily.

中国人是有体臭的，任何一个人类都有体臭。所以这是一个错误的观念，因为现在你到处都可以买到除臭剂或者也具备了每天洗澡的条件。
