I give approximately 35% of my income away toward helping people in need (no I don't mean taxes). I only earn $10/hr. I do it because when I fell ill lost everything I ever worked for and ended up homeless everyone was very fucking mean to me about it. I didn't choose to get sick and lose my job. Who would choose that? I don't want recognition for it not really I'd just like it if people stopped being such assholes.

In China quite a lot actually. That's over 1000 yuan which in most parts of the country could pay for all of a kid's fees books and materials through a substantial portion of their 12-year schooling if not all of it.

It just proves to me how outrageously out of control education costs are in the United States. Shower thought: the two things poor people need most to improve their lives (education and health Care) are financially out of reach for most of them.
