We Filipinos have been brainwashed to believe that the U.S. Government has been helping us Filipinos. First of all the U.S. government colonized us. The U.S. government abducted Filipinos & put them in Human Zoos to be displayed like animals. (Brown Skin, White Minds by. E.J.R. David) I can list more atrocities they have done but you can do your own research. One of the reasons the U.S. government wants to be allies with the Philippines is because they want to have a military base in the Philippines as a way to control Asia. Hello! When they want to so called "help" there is a price to pay. Asia should have something like the European Union (of course not exactly like it I understand the complexity of cultures) and we Asian countries should work together as a team because WE DO NOT NEED the U.S. government if we actually all get our acts together. I say we should break the chain!
P.S.
Our ancestors have been trading with China pre-colonial times. We should try to be diplomatic with everyone & prosper economically and stop the brain drain. We need to find a way to keep our talented Filipinos in the Philippines.

Yes there are things the US benefits from being friends with the Philippines, but there are also things the Philippines benefits from being friends with the US. It's a mutually beneficial business deal. Yes the US benefits from having a navy base in the Philippines... although, even if the Philippines kicked them out, the US would still have bases throughout the region such as Japan, South Korea, Australia, Guam, Hawaii, and other small islands in the Indian Ocean... so it wouldn't exactly be devastating if the Philippines kicked the US out. But here's what the Philippines benefits from being friends with the US...

China is more than 10 times the population of the Philippines and stronger economically and militarily. If the Philippines kicked the US military presence out of their country, China would conquer the rest of their islands in 48 hours. The Philippines depends on the US for their very survival and existence, every second of every day.
-Economic. Historically, the US and Philippines have had close economic ties and the US also gives the Philippines $200 million per year to invest in developing their economy. This has allowed the Philippines to become a poor, third-world country as recently as 1990 when the average Philipino made on $750 per year. Today, the average Philipino makes about $3,000 per year.

However with respect, she should stop deluding herself, come back to 2018, and recognize the reality around her, listen to what the young folks are saying.

True. We the Filipino millennials are pragmatic. We know that we should be friendly with CH since it is No. 2 now in economy and most numbered military soldiers in the world. Besides, they are our neighbor. If we will fight CH even if Washington wants to help, USA navy and air force will take 23 hours to come in PH while CH will take 30 minutes to come to us.

be realistic and see the whole thing, china compared to the west has minimal influence in our culture, we are the most westernized country in asia, just look at the indo European loan words compared to the Chinese words in our language as an example of who influenced who and to what degree
