Chang’e-4’s biological experiment returns the first results: cotton seeds have sprouted on the far side of the Moon. China’s Chang’e-4 lunar mission, the Chang’e-4 (嫦娥四号) lander and the rover Yutu-2 (玉兔二号, Jade Rabbit-2), landed in the Von Karman Crater, located in the Aitken Basin, in the South Pole region on the far side of the Moon, on 3 January 2019, at 02:26 UTC (10:26 Beijing time). Weighing below three kilograms, the test payload includes six organisms including seeds of cotton, potatoes, Arabidopsis and rapeseeds, as well as fruit fly pupae and yeast.

嫦娥4号的生物实验发回第一个结果：棉花种子已经在月球远面发芽。中国的嫦娥4号登月任务，嫦娥4号登陆器和玉兔2号漫游车，于2019年1月3日世界时间02:26（北京时间10:26），降落在月球远面南极区域阿肯盆地的冯卡曼陨石坑。实验载荷重量低于3kg，包含六种有机体，包括棉花、土豆、拟南芥和油菜的种子，还有果蝇的蛹和酵母菌。
