What is it like for an Indian to live and settle down in Japan?

Life in Japan is a life you can get nowhere else on this planet. The culture is completely isolated from the rest of the world!

I live in Fukuoka City, something like Pune for India. Not big as Tokyo/Osaka, definitely not as international. It is a place which is Japanese, for real!

The broth is made of pork mostly or the food will have meat/egg in someway or other. If you can manage to convince, you can get veg hotpots/pizzas/pastas/ramen/soba/cutlets depending on how busy the restaurant is. Other times, there is subway/dominos and convenient stores for bread and snacks. Vegetables and fruits are horribly expensive but if you grab one, it fills you up best and is always fresh and delicious. When you demand veg food, tofu is the prompt answer. Tofu is soy milk paneer (speaking in Indian terms). They can cook tofu in 100s of variations! Personally I am not a huge fan of Japanese food since I haven't adjusted to the taste well but many times I love it - especially when I am served momos and dumplings! So yes, it is a little tough in the beginning, but later you know where to go!

To talk about my other experiences in Japan, as a resident here,
People are super friendly and polite. Ask for directions and you are escorted till there. Extremely safe to do whatever you like, whatever. Please, thank you and sorry are the most commonly used words!

Streets are neat and clean. Everything is clean, rather. If the Japanese drop food on the restaurant table, they promptly wipe it with a tissue paper themselves.

If a Japanese wants to learn English/interested in knowing about anything outside Japan, they WILL approach you. And its your job ahead to charm them away!

Its hard to sum everything up in just a few words/lines. I will try to add more as I remember! Arigato Gosaimashta!

Edit: I missed mentioning Manga/Anime.

Once on the train, I offered a man some Britannia Good Day biscuits. I was surprised when he grabbed 3 of them. He then told me that he remembered them from his trip to Nepal and loved them.
Another older gentleman I spoke with on the train had also traveled to India. So it appears that the Japanese have high regards for Indians.

People are extremely nice, polite and honest. As a solo traveler, I did not feel vulnerable or insecure at any point.
For people in Japan India = "Indo". So, if I was in Japan, I would be from Indo and not India.

Cleanliness: Where we Indians are happy to litter, the Japanese are extremely clean. Even the streets in the busiest of markets are clean to the extent that they appear to be washed down 5 minutes ago.As an Indian, you will have to get used to not littering (if you do) and keep your trash with you until you see a trashcan.
