Growing up in a takeaway where social life was zero, only day off was Tuesday, however I was fortunate to afford things other kids didn't.

从小在一家外卖餐馆长大，社交生活为零，只有星期二的时候能有空闲，但我很幸运能买得起其他孩子买不起的东西。

30 years on I thank my mum and dad for literally slaving over a hot stove to ensure us kids have a decent education and future.

我爸妈在火炉旁边忙碌了30年，就是为了让我们这些儿女能接受好的教育，拥有一个体面的未来。我很感谢他们。

HOW? How can you not love and admire Chinese people?... hard working, kind, yes - avoiding confrontations and wars (which had cost them tens of millions of lives).

怎么能这样呢？你们怎么能不喜欢、不佩服中国人呢？他们勤奋刻苦、心地善良。。。。。。是的，还总是避免跟别人发生冲突和战争（因为战争让他们失去了几百万条性命）。

Maybe I’m a bit biased because my wife is of mixed race - Spanish/Chinese and I also work a lot with China which is really lovely working with friendly and extremely smart people.

可能我有一点偏向中国人吧，因为我老婆是中国和西班牙混血，我也经常和中国人共事。但我真的很喜欢跟中国人相处，他们是一群和平友好又非常聪明的人。

I’m a takeaway kid! It’s so difficult because I grew up so sheltered and never really having time for friends because I was always at the restaurant

我就是外卖餐馆里长大的孩子！这是如此困难的一件事，因为我成长在这样的环境中，从来没有真正的时间去和朋友相处，因为我总是待在餐馆里。

and it was hard in other ways, but ultimately I’m thankful for the experience. Because I know that my mother worked her ass off from 9 to 11 at night making sure all of her 6 kids were fed and clothed and that no matter how tired I was, she was 2x more tired but never gave up.

在其它方面也很不容易，但我最终还是感谢这段经历的。因为我知道我妈从早上9点累得要死忙到晚上11点，为的就是确保她的6个孩子都能吃饱穿暖。而且，不管我多累，她都比我更累，但她从未放弃过。
