The Philippines' firebrand President Rodrigo Duterte has sparked a fresh diplomatic row with his colourful language, calling the US ambassador "gay" in comments that prompted Washington to summon Manila's envoy to complain.

菲律宾爱放嘴炮的总统杜特尔特又用自己丰富多彩的语言激起了新的外交争端，他称美国大使是“同性恋”，导致华盛顿召见了驻美大使。

In the latest of series of tirades, Duterte used a local Tagalog language homophobic slur to express his displeasure with US Ambassador Philip Goldberg in televised comments made Friday.

周五在电视上，杜特尔特用菲律宾的他加禄语诽谤了美国大使以表达他的不悦。

"As you know, I'm fighting with (US Secretary of State John Kerry's) ambassador. His gay ambassador, the son of a whore. He pissed me off," Duterte said.

Duterte, 71, surged to power with a landslide in May following an incendiary campaign in which he gleefully used foul language to disrespect authority figures, from his local political rivals to the pope.

This US ambassador has been critical of our President even prior to the elections, when Duterte was still a candidate and was not even leading in the polls. To me, this smacks of American interference in the domestic affairs of our country. Golberg should have SHUT HIS MOUTH or at least kept his opinions to himself.NOw that Duterte has overwhelmingly won the elections - the highest lead in history - our president has a right to demand his replacement w/ someone whom he can be comfortable with. That's protocol.

The guy understands that US role is not meaningful.
The simple fact is that if US aid were to materialize, it would mean that war has already started. 
The Chinese absolutely will not completely back down, As long as a war has not started and China has not lost such a war , the very most that can be expected from China is strategic retreat for a while and more buildup.
The only way that the PH's dream would come true is the aftermath of China losing a war. PH does not want war.
Moreover, China is the source of development funds and the US is broke.
