Manila (AFP) - Chinese vessels have left the contested Scarborough Shoal in the South China Sea a Philippine official said Saturday less than a week after President Rodrigo Duterte visited Beijing pledging closer ties.

Why is the Philippines ignoring the legal basis for their claim that was internationally recognized in the treaties that ended the Spanish American War over 100 years ago. The 118 East Longitude line was defined in Article 111 of the Paris Treaty of 1898 and reaffirmed in the Washington Treaty of 1900 as the western boundary of Luzon. The line passes over Scarborough Shoal. If the old international maritime 3 mile or 12 mile limits are used in conjunction with the Treaties All of Scarborough belongs to the Philippines. Additionally 500 years ago the Spanish documented the islands as being seasonally occupied by people from Luzon. This fact is supported by ships logs of Portuguese French English and Dutch ships in the centuries before the Spanish American War and by American and Japanese duning WW2. The Philippiines should be slamming both the Chinese and the Americans for ignoring the Internationally Recognized Treaties that ended the Spanish American War. Duterte has said that Obama treats the Philippiines like a colony which is true but Duterte should also start calling China out on being Imperialist for seizing Philippine Territory. Much of this situation developed under Clinton's watch as Sec. of State. Why did she never criticize China for seizing Philippine Territory?

The only way to handle this situation without losing China's claims is to intercept them issue them permit and let them in. Anything short of that without a Sino-Filipino unx will cause China to lose its claims.
