I would say it’s because China is safer than the US if you look at all the statistics.
I have traveled across southern China alone and I almost never felt in danger. I have traveled to 35 states and almost every large city in the US and I have been mugged 3 times, chased twice, been yelled at and ridiculed and of course there are some places I would not dare go. I would not expect I would have that sort of experience in China.
Why is there a difference? I believe it is based on culture. The US was born in revolution, evolved and expanded through warfare and tamed the west with guns. We are a culture of violence. As a nation of immigrants, we are one people only on the basis of being of one nation of d beliefs governed by a Constitution. But as a nation of immigrants, that meant we had to leave homes, friends and family to walk into the unknown with death as our possible reward. That creates a unique perspective on life. We lived in harsh conditions and we had to fight for what we believed in whether we fought against nature, wild animals, bandits and thieves, gunslingers or neighbors. The reality we lived in has created a culture where violence is a characteristic, not an exception of life in America.
I don’t know a lot about the history of China or the other Asian nations except that it seems to me they never experienced “A” type personalities dying and fighting to live in a harsh land.

There is a difference in the crime cultures and justice system of China and USA.
Crimes are also rampant in China, in terms of scams and corruption, but criminals generally know that they mustn't cross the line. Major crimes like drug trafficking and murder are punished very severely in China, with death sentences being virtually guaranteed. (It also helps that death sentences effectively prevent such criminals from committing more crimes, thereby further reducing crime rates.) The government is often eager to meet out such sentences to set a public example to show to the people that it is not soft on crime. Criminals typically commit crimes to make money. Money is only useful when one is alive to spend it. The consequences of committing violent crimes become less acceptable to criminals, thus reducing the rate of violent crimes.
In the US, there is a pro-crime system which encourages risk-taking. The punishment for drug pushing is relatively light, limited to jail time of varying duration. Parole is often available. And if you can afford a good lawyer, one can easily walk free without any punishment. Considering that crime pays pretty well, the monetary benefits of committing a crime outweighs the potential punishment (which is non-life threatening anyway). They get released some time later, and go back to their life of crime for the easy money.
The same person is allowed to commit more crimes in his lifetime, whereas in China, the criminal would be sentenced to death (and that's the end of story). The culminating effect of the former across the population will drastically raise the crime rate.
On a personal note, I think the proportion of law-abiding citizens is more or less the same in any country. Crime rates are largely determined by how the small minority of criminals and how many times they are allowed to commit crime.

I would agree with the video that while China and the US are both pretty safe, China has less violent crime and the US has less traffic fatalities and safer food. I will note that both of those statistics are likely improving, with the US violent crime much improved as the millennial generation de-suburbanizes and driving and food regulations get implemented in China.
On a funny note, I have only been a victim of a violent crime in China and only been in a car accident in America, so all of these things are statistical, and your mileage may vary.
Finally, there is a regional and geographical component. A well-to-do suburb in the US has no violent crime to speak of, or certain cities are known from having a more aggressive culture. Beijing is aggressive by Chinese standards but less so than say Pittsburgh or Philadelphia, on the other hand Dongbei is more aggressive than those two cities (well maybe not Philly) but the hoods don't have guns. Also what would be an assault in America often goes unreported in China as the police push both parties to “come to an agreement” about compensation rather than charging people.

In this one he explained it well: there are fewer violent crimes in China but scams and thieves are omnipresent. I don’t think that the crime rate of China is lower than other countries, it’s just that they commit “minor” crimes, so you don’t really mind having 100 being pickpocketed vs being robbed at gun point.

I put it in 3 factors:
1.Gun is forbidden for residents to use in China, but not in US .
2.The punishment by the law is more severe in China. Almost all of the deliberate murderer will be sentenced to death.
3.Due to fast-growing economy, people' s lives are getting better and better. they do not have enough reasons to rob ot steal others

Apart from all the good answers already given, another interesting fact is foreigners are generally given certain special treatments in China. It can be quite explicit, like the channels dedicated to foreigners in some places, or implicit, like the additional attention received while reporting an incident to the police station. A couple of examples:
The Ningbo PD examined 4 ton of rubbish to successfully find a lost passport for a Russian tourist.
A stolen bike (only worth like 50 bucks) of a Japanese tourist was recovered overnight by the police.
It has gone to a point where some foreigners start a business by reporting lost property to police station on behalf of Chinese victims. These lost properties will have a much higher chance of being recovered.
It’s quite bizarre but it’s true. A typical Chinese citizen would never expect such treatment from the police. Don’t get me wrong, it’s the same in western countries. If you lost a phone, the chance of recovering it by the police is quite slim. It’s just only foreigners can get these special treatments in China.

Well to start out, amongst beloved countries, we have a very high level of crime. Even many developnig countries (even some Africa) have sometimes ranked higher than the US in safety. Consider the number of massacres and serial killings we have (much, much higher than any other developed country). Consider our ridiculous number of people incarcerated in this country (our country has around 5% of the world population yet a 1/4 of its prison population. Also consider the fact that, unlike most developed countries which have strict gun control laws, we have pretty lax laws when it comes to guns and thus there are more guns personally owned here than there are people in the US. Factor in a history of segregation and slavery and police brutality towards minorities, a history that absolutely effects us until this day, and it becomes easier to understand why America is a “dangerous” country to live when compared to most of the world. However, there's the fact that America is such a huge country and obviously some places are more dangerous than others (compare Memphis, TN to Richmond, VA for example) so the question of whether America is dangerous or not really depends on where you are at the moment. As for China, I am unfortunately unable to give you too much insight into th since I have never been there and haven’t studied enough into their crim statistics to give an accurate answer. But I hope this answers your queetion as best as it can!
