In the UK at least, they shouldn't have any significant problem. The only cases I have read of in recent years where Chinese young people were harmed in the UK have all been in London, and the attacks were by fellow Chinese.

I have worked with young (15-20) International students, most of them Chinese, for most of the past ten years, and can't think of a single case where any of them had any serious difficulties. They are usually very polite, well behaved young people, and are very well accepted by local people. The only minor problems have arisen where groups of Hong Kong teenage boys have made far too much noise late in the evening, right outside people's homes, and residents have shouted at them! But other than that, no hostility has ever been mentioned to me.

Which country? Almost all European countries have low crime and are pretty tolerant. And even among the racists, East and South East Asians tend to be viewed in an ok light.

Yes, we in the Netherlands are pretty tolerant towards other cultures and people and this includes Chinese. However, as long as you blend in with the rest you'll be fine. If you behave like a real Chinese, burping while eating, make noises white eating, spitting on the floor, outside or inside, people will not like you a whole lot.

You'd be quite safe in all EU countries plus the UK, but there is something you can do in China but probably not in most European countries.
Not everyone realizes that China is in fact a very safe country, girls walk on the streets at 2am without having to worry about their safety.

Chinese tourists were attacked by Turkish nationalists in 2015 while shouting "Allahu Akbar".
Turkey has been openly supporting terrorist activities in Xinjiang. Therefore you might be less safe if you are in Turkey

As safe as anyone else really. The absolute worst they might get for being chinese in most places is some asshole shouting at them, but it’s damn unlikely and frankly people like that will shout at anyone who stands out at all.
Most of Europe is pretty safe for everyone provided you’re sensible. And whenever violence does occur 99.9% of the time it will have nothing to do with their nationality. Perhaps especially for east-asians.

As safe as anyone else - Chinese students have a good reputation as they’re far less likely to be as raucous as other students, they’ve studied really hard to get scholarships overseas, they don’t go on political rallies or try to impose their views, culture, political or religious inclinations or lack of them on others, they might initially undergo a culture shock at how much freedom they have, yet as they’ve been raised to respect authority a lot more, they’re far less likely to do anything to attract negative attention to themselves - in racially related incidents in recent decades - East Asians never appeared to the targets of violence or the protagonists of any violence.

The society is properly segregated as everywhere else. All the horror stories happen in ghettos where university students never go.
