Weird topic for a thread, I know. Humor me.
Humanoid entities with the heads or facial structure of wolves or dogs appear in some ancient religions and fairy tales. The Greeks and Romans believed that "dog-headed people" inhabited the most distant parts of India. The ancient Egyptians depicted at least one of their better-known gods as a jackal-headed man.
I'm looking for lore on this subject, from any culture, time, or place around the world. I might be especially interested in examples from pre-Christian Europe.
Does anyone know of other examples?

Let us not forget Cerberus the three-headed dog whose throat bristled with serpents. He was the guardian of the abode of Pluto on the banks of the Stygian lake. Neoplatonic doctrine saw in him a symbol of the evil genius. Later he came to be interpreted as the emblem of rotting in the grave, for if Hercules overcame him it was only because his tasks were directed towards the attainment of immortality. The three heads of Cerberus are—like the trident—the infernal replica of divine tri-unity. Hope this is what you were looking for.

This might be a little closer to what you were looking for.
The Aztec′s had a water monster they called ahuitzotl.
This monster was said to be half dog, half monkey, with an extra hand on the end of its tail. It was said to pull people into the water with this hand, killing them and eating only their eyes, nails and teeth.
Xolotl an Aztec sun-god or god of misfortune, a dog-headed god of the underworld twin brother of Quetzalcoatl.
In Greek mythology cyanocephalus was a monster in the form of a dog headed man.
og-headed humans said to live in India.
Erkilek is an Inuit god of the hunt. He is depicted with the head of a dog on a man’s body.
In some versions of Greek myths the FURIES have dog′s heads and bats′ wings and writhing snakes for hair.
Hapy2 was in Egyptian myth an ape-headed or dog-headed god one of the 4 Amenti son of Horus.
He was guardian of the north and of the lungs of the dead or, some say, the north and the small intestine. I know dirty job, but some one . . . . . .
Not to be confused with Hapy1 a bull headed god.
Another Egyptian god was Khons. He is sometimes depicted as a child, as falcon-headed, or as a dog-headed baboon and may be shown standing on a crocodile.
Cynanthropy

Odin had two wolf companions, Geri and Freki.
That was taken from the Wikipedia page on Geri and Freki, which I'm unable to link to at the moment.
An interesting take on Norse myths, and Odin's close relationship with wolves and ravens...
Wolves were by far the earliest animal to be domesticated by man, and those wolves, along with their dog descendants, would have been hunting companions for our prehistoric hunter-gatherer ancestors. It is interesting to think that the Norse myths about Odin's wolf companions could be a link to that ancient past.
Wolves and ravens also have a symbiotic relationship, with ravens benefiting from wolves by sharing in consuming large game killed by wolves. It isn't just scavenging after the wolves have moved on, as wolves actually tolerate ravens eating with them, something they don't usually tolerate from other animals like bears or foxes. Ravens in turn, have been observed leading wolves to sick or injured game. They also seem to enjoy each other's company, with ravens and wolf pups frequently engaging in play.
It is only in recent years that scientists have begun to get an understanding of the symbiotic relationship between wolves and ravens, but some of our mythology hints that our ancient ancestors were aware of it, even if they didn't understand it and attached a layer of mysticism to it. There are some Native American myths where wolves and ravens are prominent and closel linked as well.

There are legends of dog-headed people and dog-people in Asia as well. There's an ancient myth of a "Kingdom of Dog-men" in China. In many versions of the myth the dog-men co-exist with human women who they take as their wives and talk to with barks. Dog-men were also common in the folklore of the nomads of the central Asian steppe. When European missionaries first visited the Mongol empire they recorded some of the stories of dog-men and undoubtedly spread the myths back in Europe.
The Oghuz Turks had a legend of a tribe of dog-men called Qil Baraq. The dog-men wore no armor, but would smear a thick paste all over their furry bodies. When it dried it became impenetrable. They also traveled on foot and could outrun normal men.

In Hungary dog-headed are not mythology.
Tartars and mongols were called dog-headed. Medi hungarians also believed that they are cannibals, and eat human meat raw. (sometimes not human meat, but specifically raw meat of virgin maidens)
The source of this can be:
- their typical "steppe fur cap"
- some weapons they used (a dog/wolf skull on the end of a stick, to brake swords)
- the items used their dignitaries/leaders (dog, wolf skulls and fur, used as a banner)

There's heaps of legends about dog-headed creatures in England and Western Europe, if that helps. However, it feels less like the talk of a specific entity and more 'there must be monsters around, because something ate my sheep'.
