Nathan Do
In my opinion, the average Vietnamese dislikes China, effectively holds negative view towards Mainland Chinese. Generally speaking, i think it should not be this way, and Vietnamese have a lot to learn from the Chinese (of course, just the good part). But i disagree with Ha Anh on what are the reasons for the hatre, so here are my reasons.
Why do Vietnamese dislike Chinese (Mainland) ?
· Instinct to preserve our own identity. Sound weird but it’s true. During the 1000 year of Chinese colonization, if Vietnamese actually like China, the current country Vietnam would have ceased to exist. That is to say our ancestors held this sentiment strongly against the Chinese, consistently for the preservation of our own identity/independence. It imprints the hatre in Vietnamese generations even till this day. The whole point is to emphasize, we are NOT them.
· Like in a few other countries, Vietnamese encounter bad impressionon Chinese tourists on their home land (not that our own travelers are much better but still). This created a bad impression on Chinese people as a whole. Also it seems common for the lower educated Chinese tourists to think of Vietnam as part of China. That doesn’t help at all.
· Worry about fake/toxic food originated from China. This is brought to light by the media. The average Vietnamese cannot understand that these bad Chinese also done this to their own people.
· The border war between Vietnam and China was quite recent (1979). And people in the north still have horror memories of that. China’s stand in that war was to “teach Vietnam a lesson” and destroyed Northern Vietnam’s economy, which they did achieve at a costly price (10–100 thousands of casualties).
· Intangible fear of being annexed to China. China’s economy and military’ve been growing exponentially for the last few decades. Together with aggression in the South China Sea, the general sentiment is definitely bad.
Now here is a big twist, the most important reason why currently, Vietnamese hate Chinese (or China) is because their government wants it to be so. And they have been successful. But why ?
· The government doesn’t want its citizen to start question why under the same socialism structure but China has been more successful in term of economics, welfare, military, etc.
· Making use of patriotism is the easiest way to blindfold a Vietnamese. So there you have it, an aggressive, giant neighbor, full of pollution, poisonous foods and want to take advantage of us any point in time. Now, hate them, not us, your own government!
· Blaming China for every little issue will make the citizens forget that who actually governs and let all these issues happen in the first place.
Then how did they do that ? Simple, MEDIA
· I’ve been following Vietnamese news for more than 20 years and i have rarely seen any article about how miraculously Beijing or Shanghai have grown (or any of China’s cities/provinces for that matter). To compare it with Singapore there are plenty of articles about this city.
· Why Cuba or North Korea were mentioned a lot instead ? Because they does not have the same growth as China. So the citizens look at those and think they are still pretty lucky to stay in Vietnam.
· Amplify all the food scandals from China, fake goods, bad quality, dirty business tactics done by Chinese businessman to Vietnamese farmers, bad pollution in China, aggression by China, etc. Basically anything bad about China, the government is playing victim here. When you think of it, you realize if they are capable no one can do these tricks to us.
· There is no chart to show you that China economy left Vietnam’s for dust since around 1990. Before that we are not much different in term of GDP per capita
I think it’s important for Vietnamese to see the whole picture. The more you know the less you hate. Because there are good and bad people everywhere. Bad Chinese businessmen who produce fake/toxic food harms their own peopleeven before harming us. And it’s Vietnamese who brought those things deep into our land, should we start hating ourselves too ?
My point: stop the hatre, start learning instead.
Edit:
About the intangible fear mentioned above, i think it is not totally baseless. But it’s more about worrying of China’s involvement with the gov.
You see even though, the gov doesn’t want us to like China, they still have benefits in working with China.
Therefore, it creates big scandals like Formosa Ha Tinh Steel - Wikipedia(Taiwanese company with Chinese stakeholder) causing mass fish death, making life miserable for the fisherman. Also this company employed 10,000s Mainland Chinese, which created their own isolated China town within Ha Tinh. You tell me how can the locals not be pissed.
Another bad project would be the Dự án khai thác bô xít ở Tay Nguyên – Wikipedia tiếng Việt, where we paid for using old Chinese technology, import low cost Labour from Mainland and end up destroying our own environment.
These scandals plus the sheer number of Chinese tourists keep increasing created that intangible fear.
I’m going to be honest, this will break many hearts. But when Vietnamese make fun of everything related to China, its almost like hating themselves. I’ll explain why this is.
I’m a Vietnamese from Ho Chi Minh City, I grew up watching Chinese dramas but hating China. I hated every bit of China, calling Chinese people “Chinese dogs”. Basically I used to be one of those angry nationalists on YouTube or Facebook calling for the extermination of China. I REALLY HATED CHINESE, EVERYTHING CHINESE: products, food, anything halfway related to china I would hate.
I was 19 when I first went to China, I was sort of excited but also sort of afraid. I told myself I was afraid because I was going to be in a new place or something like that, but I was really fooling myself, I probably knew at the back of my head that this was going to happen.
I stepped foot in China and wandered around the city, it really felt EXACTLY LIKE HO CHI MINH CITY. The people look similar, the food looks similar, the people act similar, the way people walk and talk looks similar. Everything was similar.
When I went abroad to Australia, I can usually tell the difference between lets say a korean and a viet or a japanese and a viet or a indonesian and a viet. But no matter how hard I tried i couldn’t find a way to distinguish a viet and a Chinese. Our way of living is really that similar!
I faced a crisis, i realized by hating on China so much I was really hating on Vietnam as well.
This will probably make people mad, and make others want to kill me, but really. The culture difference between VN and CN is basically the difference between two Chinese provinces like Bejing or Guangzhou, Im dead serious.
I really wanted to hate China, I really wanted to continue holding my grudge for the thousand year occupation of my country: The Bac Thuoc. But I simply couldn’t, everything was so similar, down to food, culture, clothing, way of life.
I am now of the opinion that most of Vietnamese culture is originally Chinese in origin, and thus I really can’t hate China. I’m not kidding if Vietnam spoke cantonese we’d basically be a part of China, South China and Vietnam are really really similar.
So I say, most Vietnamese HATE HATE China, but, I can no longer do so, because hating Chinese culture is like hating Vietnam. It sort of halfway broke my heart when I realized this.
No I don't hate the Chinese. In fact I think Chinese culture is good for Vietnam. And the Chinese occupation did more good to Vietnam than bad.
If the Chinese did not influence Vietnam, we would be similar to many Southeast Asian tribes. No offence but just look at the Philippines, Vietnam had 30 years of war and now we are on par with them. No offence but even Vietnamese can see that the Laotians and Cambodians are much more lazier than us. Even the French could see the same thing and that's why they said “The Vietnamese plant the rice, the Cambodians watch it grow and the Laos listen to it grow.”
Northern civilizations are always more advanced than Southern ones. It's not a coincident that Chinese communities control every single economy in Southeast Asia. I used to think it was because the colonizers allowed them to control trade but I was really wrong. The Chinese have cultural values that are superior to the native tribes. Otherwise they won't make up a majority of Thailand’s rich people when it was never a colonized country.
Not to mention all the positive things the Chinese brought: system of central government, writing, architecture, money, literature and art, army structure, war tactics, a lots of skills like making silk, pottery, martial arts. A lot of these things were standardized in China and introduced to Vietnam before many countries in the world. Vietnam moved away from the barter system because the Chinese introduced coins and bank notes. Thus Vietnam was one of the first countries in the world to have a money system. The Chinese also introduced their trade culture and concept of nation state. And thank god for that, because Vietnamese now have a strong trade culture. You can see everyone tries to own a business and sell something in Vietnam no matter how small it is. You can also see that Vietnam has a strong unified identity, contrary to all our neighbours who are divided by ethnic divisions. You also see the strong education value that Vietnamese have. And this is why the whole world is surprised with our PISA result (not me).
I might be hated for saying this but I'm so glad Vietnam got influenced by the Chinese and the Chinese came and settled in Vietnam. You see those Vietnamese men sitting drinking coffee the entire day doing nothing. Yea, if Vietnam was never under Chinese influence, just multiply that by 10 times. I am actually sad that a lot of the Chinese left Vietnam after the war. If we kept more of those people Vietnam might actually develop much faster now. They are now so successful overseas.
It's one thing to hate China’s aggression towards Vietnam but we cannot deny their superior culture and that we have benefitted from adopting it.
In conclusion: I am angry and hate China when it bullies Vietnam. But I do not hate the Chinese. I admire them and the Chinese civilization.
We know it's hard for small nations to maintain independence, dignity and sense of security in this harsh world. We are sympathetic.
Have you ever noticed that the Chinese who are hostile towards Vietnam are usually the outspoken ones online, the friendly ones simply keep silence because they don’t like to argue with hot heads?
If you draw a conclusion based on the discussions in Internet communities, Chinese hates Japanese most, but when a Japanese (及川健一) shows up on Zhihu (a Chinese copycat of Quora), all Japanese-haters suddenly disappear, all silent friendly Chinese rush out with open arms. This Japanese doesn’t do any ass-kissing to cater to our bulging ego. He talks about geopolitics, Yasukuni Shrine and Japanese patriotism and maintains his stance as a Japanese citizen, but he wins our admiration and understanding with his bravery, sincerity and insight.
Every nation or person has a civil, polite public face and an ugly, calculating private face. We Chinese show our private face too much, which is childishly naive and damagingly foolish.
Vietnam isn't the only country in Asia who has this love-hatred complex about China. I’ve seen Japanese, Indians and other Southeast Asians express the same perplexities:
Why is China so aggressive?
Why is China so arrogant?
Why is China so uncooperative, unfriendly, unconsiderate?
We do want to be friends with China. If only China changes its aggressive policies, we could run Asia with Asian hands and send the Americans home.
As is known to every one, China has a very unhappy recent crisis. The crisis has ended, but left serious scars on our nation’s psychology. You only see our recovered economy and military prowess, you don’t know our worries and nightmares. We are not ready to open our heart or relax our vigilance.
Regardless of size or population, every nation has an ego, an independent spirit. The Indians are proud of their non-alignment policy. However, I think it’s nothing wrong to form an alliance with neighbors. We have this ASEAN, which aspires to be an Asian EU. That’s not a bad idea. It seems the Germans or French have never worried about their national identity or pride when deeply involving in EU activities. It doesn’t hurt to rally up with fellow small nations.
As every one can see, China is modeling America in its economic, technological and cultural development. For the moment, we want to be alone. Luckily, we can afford to stand by ourselves. We mean no offence. Don’t feel hurt.
Yes. Besides the obvious reasons presented by other quorans, there are other factors as well.
Basically Vietnamese are complicated people with complicated thoughts. Chinese never understand or attempt to understand Vietnamese psychology!
1. Chinese keep asking why do Vietnamese hate China and keep saying that they do not understand why. Really? We have explained to you 1 million times already! Even the Americans know!
2. Chinese don't understand that we are afraid of China. So instead of calming us down, you threaten us and won't stop boasting how powerful China is.
3. Chinese keep saying they don't care about Vietnam. Ok fine you don't care, but it doesn't hurt to say or show you do or at least don't say anything at all. Ok try to understand this. Vietnam is in a weird location. It is located in Southeast Asia surrounded by completely alien countries. Vietnamese have identity crisis because no one accepts us. Vietnamese feel close to Chinese. We really do. And we feel insulted when Chinese say they don't care which makes us hate you even more.
4. Chinese don't understand that they are a big country and it doesn't hurt to show some concession to the little guy once in a while. More importantly Chinese never put yourself in our situation and ask yourself how we feel. How do you feel if there is a giant country more than 50 times your size constantly harassing you? Even better, how do you feel if people from that county keep saying that they don't understand why you hate them and that their country has never done anything wrong EVER?
5. Chinese blame Vietnam. Vietnam is always the ungrateful country that owes China everything and deserves every beating handed to it by China and it is NEVER China’s fault ever. I remember when I was 9 years old, I was running around being active, my mother was having a bad day and so smacked me out of frustration. She told me to apologize even when I haven't done anything wrong. Well at that time I really bloody hated her. People don't like having to apologize for someone else's action.
In short, Vietnamese hate Chinese because Chinese are ignorant and insensitive to Vietnamese feeling. Chinese leaders don't understand Vietnamese thoughts. Chinese citizens are insulting and ignore Vietnam. Chinese overseas diaspora group Vietnamese with other countries and don't realize our culture similarities even when we feel close to you.
When it comes to anything related to China, Vietnamese have complicated and contradictory feeling. Let's see:
· China invaded Vietnam, forced Vietnamese to adopt Chinese culture => HATE
BUT at the same time: Chinese culture is similar to Vietnam, so Vietnamese feel close to Chinese, => LIKE
· Chinese are scheming and multifaceted => HATE
BUT at the same time: Vietnamese admire this cunningness and want to be more like that => LIKE
· Chinese moved to Vietnam, never wanted to assimilate, instead expected Vietnamese to accomodate them => HATE
BUT at the same time: Vietnamese admire Chinese resilience to cultural assimilation and always say we need to be more like that, especially Vietnamese overseas => LIKE
· Chinese are insular and only help their own people in business => HATE
BUT at the same time: Vietnamese say we need to learn more from Chinese solidarity with each other => LIKE
· Chinese fake everything => HATE
BUT at the same time: “OMG the Chinese are clever, anything they can do” => LIKE
· Chinese are calculative => HATE
BUT at the same time: Vietnamese admire Chinese long vision and culture of strategy and think Vietnamese need to learn from that => LIKE
Vietnamese can have bad sterotypes of Chinese but Vietnamese do recognise Chinese good points as well. Personally I think the Chinese are a very clever group of people. I came to this conclusion after observing and researching their community in Vietnam and in other Southeast Asian countries. They are without a doubt one of the most enterprising and business minded cultures in the world. And I think not just me but this view is quite common amongst Vietnamese. If there is one single common thought that Vietnamese have of Chinese, even the extremely anti-China ones, it would be: the Chinese are clever.
As a Vietnamese myself I am sometimes confused
I mean Vietnamese love eating Chinese food. There's a reason why Vietnamese say “eat in district 5, live in district 3, play in district 1” (?n qu?n 5, n?m qu?n 3, xa hoa qu?n 1) District 5 of Saigon is where the Chinese live and do business. It's also the foreign cuisine that's the easiest to eat for us (because yep we categorize foreign food on how “easy” it is to eat).
They love watching ancient Chinese dramas. Seriously the three KingdomS is still on TV after God knows how many years. Vietnamese discuss a lot about ancient Chinese history, if you want to bond with a group of old men playing Chinese chess, perhaps brush up on your Three Kingdoms knowledge, coupled with some myths and facts about Qin Shi Huang and you'll have a conversation starter. And young girls love those cheesy Chinese Internet novels with time traveling theme (rolls eyes)
Vietnamese have no problem dressing in Chinese costumes despite territorial disputes with China. In Mid-autumn festival, it is not uncommon to see young women dressing up in cheongsam to take photos. And no, Vietnamese still consider this festival to be 100% purely Vietnamese and would still argue tooth and nail that it has nothing to do with the Chinese!!! At all. Of course the Chinese took it from us when they invaded.
We are fighting with China but it doesn't stop us from dressing up now do we?*
And yes Vietnamese hate Chinese. It's just something we do. We are supposed to hate them so we will say that we hate them for the sake of it. Now as I think about it, I also hate my brother. He is annoying as hell. Sometimes I just want to punch him in the face. Sometimes I dream about punching him in the face. But I guess in the end I still feel close to him. I guess that's the easiest way to describe how Vietnamese feel for the Chinese. It's not really a “hate” but a transitioning feeling that's hard to describe.
And I think this comes down to the fact that no other country in the world has spent so long being dominated by a single country. Korea is another one but I think the Koreans managed to escape China’s control whereas Vietnam is still stuck. So I think hating the Chinese is a survival skill that Vietnamese acquired. After all if we love the Chinese, Vietnam would not survive until now.
Vietnamese people do not hate *Chinese people* in daily life. Chinese influence is part of Vietnamese culture. Our people know and love Chinese literature, music, superstars, and movies (especially historical and wu-xia ones). Such TV series as the 1983 "Journey to the West" were among best childhood memories for the children in the 1990s. Now young girls read online Chinese love fictions. Young boys use Oppo besides iPhone and Samsung. We admire China's achievements in economic development and want to learn from those. As individuals, we are pretty close in terms of culture and mindset, and thus can make friends easily.
However, Vietnamese people often hold a strongly negative attitude toward the following issues:
· Chinese expansionism (or hegemony, imperialism).
· Cheap low-quality and sometimes poisonous goods from China.
In the talks on these issues, it is understandable that the term “the Chinese” can be used liberally, no matter who did the bad things: the government or cunning traders.
The first issue is deeply rooted in history. For a thousand years Vietnam has always been a clear target for Chinese dynasties every time they wanted to flex their muscles or attempted to gain more land. So the Viets were very alert to the threats from the Northern empire. This watchful attitude lessened as both countries were invaded by foreign forces and went through the independence & communist movements, but has intensified during the recent ups and downs in the two countries' relationship (the 1979 war, etc.) It is believed by some people that Chinese government is trying to control and sabotage Vietnamese economy, gradually converting Vietnam into a subordinate vassal state.
Speaking of the second issue, I don’t think that only Vietnam has a problem with cheap Chinese goods. But in Vietnam it is much worse because we share a land border with China where smuggling is rampant, technical barriers to trade are non-existent and quality standards are ignored. However, in my opinion, we Vietnamese are as much to blame, because if not for our own greed, corruption and short-sightedness, how could bad poisonous products be imported from the border to our markets?
So in short, the feelings of Vietnamese people toward China (as a country) are admiration and love and hate intertwined. I cannot say for individuals, for each of us will have our own experiences.
Of course we do. It’s impossible not to, given our history.
The Vietnamese hate Chinese people in the same way that the Nepalis hate The Indians, or all the Eastern Europeans-Russians. It's a fact. We, the weak and the marginalised hate the bully. It's how it is.
this sort of love-hate relationship is a very common phenomenon all around the globe. The submissive one absorbed too much cultural value and philosophical ideals from the provocateur that they feel threatened of losing their identity. The Vietnamese try incessantly to prove that they are unique and so much different from the Chinese, and by unique and different, what they are truly telling is the claim of their indepence, historically and culturally. But of course they can't. Vietnam resembles a great deal of China. The fact is too cruel to comprehend, let alone recognize it as an essential part of national identity design. and the more we strive to shrug it off, the more of that hatred is haboured in the society.
Yet we are heavily influenced, it is impossible to disconnect ourselves and refute all of what helped make us who we are. We aspire the enormous collection of Chinese civilization and study them wholeheartedly, as if we are rediscovering ourselves. a Vietnamese may find Chinese philosophy much more agreeable than Western ideals precisely because it relates more to the values and traditions that she holds and beholds. The same thing happened in other social activities, such as religion practice or the taste in art and fashioN (though given by the exponential popularity of American culture, this is changing)
well then, so of course we hate the Chinese, at the same time we get intrigued and secretly admire them。

Generally speaking - yes. But on a personal level, I feel no resentment towards Chinese at all and many of my friends are Chinese.
There is however, a certain tension between Vietnamese and Chinese. Which is definitely saying something, because I don't think it is as strong for other countries like the US or Japanese or the French, who have also occupied our country in the past and done their fair share of horrible things.
It's mostly a matter of history. China has invaded us many many times and still are questioning Vietnamese sovereignty even today. So yes, generally speaking there is resentment but I wouldn't say that every Vietnamese person hates every Chinese person.

Originally Answered: Why do the Vietnamese hate the Chinese?
We don't really hate Chinese people, just Chinese government because political, historical and sovereignty conflicts for thousands years. In fact, many Chinese people are really nice and friendly.
However, like in China, there are many other people who just listen to one-direction information or they can't discern and understand that the conflicts are between the governments, the leaders, not the people. They start to hate anything which is related to the other country, which is not worth.
Please, when you hate a country, hate its government, don't hate the people.

A lot of ass-kissing and flattery for this answer. The truth is:
YES THEY DO.
How do I know this?
Well practically all Chinese people I know hate Japan, same with Koreans as well. I see on Quora Chinese and Koreans saying things like: “Oh no we don’t hate them we just hate their government!”. That’s BS, pure BS lol. If I saw the amount of vitriol Koreans have against Japanese like I have seen in personal experiences on Quora I’d see answers like: “Yes, we fucking despise you Japs, we wish you were nuked with 100 nukes instead of 2”.
Vietnamese? Same thing, they’ll flatter you and pretend they don’t hate you. But they do, I don’t know many Vietnamese in real life but the ones that do if I don’t tell them I’m Chinese, they’ll gladly vilify China and cheer on things like the Sichuan earthquake because they don’t know I’m Chinese.
But for Vietnamese it must be a weird feeling, because I see Vietnamese culture for all intensive purposes is very very close to Chinese culture. So, when Vietnamese hate its again like Chinese hating Japanese or Koreans hating Japanese.
They like Chinese culture, in fact I always see Vietnamese and Chinese mingling with each other outside China or Vietnam completely fine. From what I see on Quora, it seems to be confirmed by anecdotal evidence.
As much as Koreans and Chinese hate Japan, Japanese culture is very popular in China and Korea. Not to mention that Japanese culture before the westernization of Japan was also quite close to Chinese and Korean culture (Sinospheric culture), so Chinese and Koreans hate Japan.. But gladly wack off to Japanese porn, love Manga and Anime and are general weebs.
Do they hate? Yes, do they hate indiscriminately? Yes. But deep down inside, they hate and love at the same time.

Do we hate China? Yes, we do. I can say the animosity is from majority, not minority. Another fact is the Vietnamese people in the southern hate China more than the folks in the northern. An interesting point is even Chinese ethnics in Vietnam do not like the China mainland.
We hate China not because she has become stronger and stronger, or because China is far superior to Vietnam. Even during the Mongolian invasion or pre-modern Chinese history when China dropped down to the bottom of power scale, we were still hating them. We hate China because China has always concerned with Vietnam for all of the time. Every single major event in Vietnamese history had the fingerprint of Chinese, and most of their manipulations were negatively influencing to Vietnam. To be honest, I think this hateful mentality will continue forever.
I myself hate China. Ironically, I have a bunch of Chinese friends. It’s simply because I hate the country in general, but I do not hate any particular Chinese folk.

How your goverment can talk something like that. You, chinese, have just gained your independence from Manchu people or Mongol people in 1949. Now, Mongol people say Hey Chinese! Tibet, Xinjiang, Neimong, Beijing, Yunan, Sichuan… is our land for thousands year ago. What will you think? We hate Chinese by this reason. By the way, Chinese is very amazing. Theoretically, people should not hate each other. But from a practical perspective, China has done a lot of bad things with Vietnam. No one in Vietnam can ignore the feelings of insults, bullying and oppression by the Chinese.
I believe that hatred is perfectly understandable and beneficial in that context. We must fight to preserve Vietnam's territorial integrity, culture and spirit.
Chinese traders are sent in to sabotage and occupy the economy of our country.
By sea, they invade and rob our territory.
In terms of culture, China is trying to poison Vietnamese youth with cheap, inexpensive cultural products and pathogens in their country.
The government of Vietnam is also heavily influenced by the Chinese government. And sometimes, wise people in our country have to realize that our politicians are following China's orders.
China is really trying to control Vietnam as its backyard.
No Vietnamese patriot can ignore such abuse and humiliation.

I can’t speak for other Vietnamese but I can speak for myself. I’ve been to China and I love it. I admire it. The young people in China are incredibly well educated, polite and smart. On the train, they have given up their seat for me, a senior person. I have lots of good Chinese friends. No, I don’t hate the Chinese in general. I will be happy for my children to marry Chinese people.
I like many of the Chinese policies, for example the One Belt One Road initiative. I don’t like some other Chinese policies, for example demanding bilateral talks to resolve the issue of the South China Sea islands (I’d rather have the issue handled by an international court).。

I assume so.
Some people may argue it is probably because of the war in 1979 and the prolonged border skirmishes in the following decade. It is probably one of the reason. However US launched a far more cruel war that lasted over 10 years, killing nearly 2 million Vietnamese, and Vietnamese do not hate Americans.
Some people may think it is because of the Chinese “occupation” hundreds of years ago, but remember Vietnam was only a vassal state and was requested to pay occasional tributes in exchange for protection upon request. However France did colonize Vietnam for over a hundred years and some seemed to feel proud about it. I assume people do know the sharp difference between vassal state and colony.
The only reason I could think of to explain the unreasonable hatred by Vietnamese is Vietnam has been so heavily influenced by Chinese culture, and it MUST try very hard to alienate China in order to boost its own national pride and sentiment. So China MUST be coined as a villain and a bully, and the history of Vietnam was then revised to a history of heroric Vietnamese fought against the invaders, thus legitimizing its independence and nationalist movement.
The same also happens to Korea.
It is really about pride and self consciousness, and the hatred is manipulated and orchestred.
But frankly as a normal Chinese whose work and life has very little to do with Vietnam, who cares?

Simple: my older brother has an anti Chinese attitude (Chinese cheat, are untrustworthy…).
After he visited China, I asked “Did you see the women? What did you think?”
His answer: “One out of three, or even more, are incredibly beautiful!”
So, it’s not hate, it seems more like fear and a bit of extreme nationalism. Personally I do think (I can think of some right now) that Chinese women are incredibly pretty, and I don’t hate Chinese at all
