Smoking. At least as a 1992 college grad. Everyone smoked or at least didn't care if you did. We could smoke in our dorm rooms or the dorm hallway if our roommate was a non-smoker. It was allowed in all common areas like the lounge but not the cafeteria.

We could smoke in class until 1992 or so.

To be fair smoking is really stupid and has almost no upside. In 1992 I knew better.

Smoking in restaurants at least in the smoking sections. Bringing anything vaguely weapon-like on an airplane.

Missing a phone call. In the 90’s you had an excuse you wernt home to pick up the telephone. Now its like i know you ignored my call on purpose!

Inb4 downvotes: kids enjoying things usually associated with the opposite gender without it being assumed that it means they're trans.

Spanking/disciplining your kids.
Don't know if it was 'socially acceptable' in the 90's since I was a kid back then but I don't recall anyone being 'butt-hurt' over it until the past few years tbh.

Petronella23
Beat me to it. I'm a 90s kid and me and just about every kid I knew was spanked. Hell sometimes even by teachers at school. Nowadays though if you bring it up people freak the fuck out and accuse you of being cool with child abuse. There's a huge difference between a well-deserved spanking and just wailing on a kid.

ALLCAPSMANIAC
I remember being butt-hurt over being spanked. It fucking hurt my butt.

Infidelity
In the '90s we Americans were told to lighten up after the Lewinsky scandal and take a more European view of affairs. Today cheating is viewed as the worst thing ever instead of a sign of enlightened sophistication.

Living above your means. Aspiring to keep up with the Jones'. This isn't dead today but younger people are certainly more frugal nowadays and their definition of keeping up has changed. It's more tech-oriented now than in the 90s when it was about fancy cars and big houses/furniture for those houses.
It reminds me of the contrast between the 1920s and the 1930s. Economic downturns have huge impacts.
