One such law fit to be called ridiculous is

Indian Treasure Trove Act 1878

It defines treasure specifically as "anything of any value hidden in the soil" and worth as little as 10 rupees.

The finder of such treasure according to this law needs to inform the most senior local official of the "nature and amount or approximate value of such treasure and the place where it was found".

Also if the finder fails to hand over the booty to the government he may be fined and imprisoned for 1 year. The "share of such treasure vests in the Govt of India.

It means if you find anything valuable under the earth even in land of your house or farm. It belongs to the government.

It was an archaic law by colonial British govt. Indians had no banks earlier. It was a common practice here to hide hard earned money in the form of precious metals under the earth in homes to save it from theft and for use in times of utmost necessity. The then British govt was greedy about this gold and so enacted the law. But the law is still being misused and abused by local police everywhere to hunt for people who eventually get something buried in their ancestral lands. Most of the time the police personnel themselves devour on these ancestral metals of people.

I live in America so I find a lot of the laws are 1 sided. The second amendment gives the people the rights to bare arms. After 1968 they strength the laws because African-American were defending themselves. So they amendment the second right to bare arms. To have that right you have to have a permit. Where before 1968 you didn't
