First off, giant? Landmass?
Vietnam has a total landmass of 329 thousand square kilometres.
China has a total landmass of 9.6 Million + 470 Thousand of territorial sea,making China a nation with territory over 10 million square kilometres.
If you've been in second grade, you know who's the giant here.
Second. Population?
As of recently, the total Vietnamese population is 95 million.
China? Largest in the world with a whopping 1.38 Billion.
We're talking about differences with two unit spaces here.
Third. Economy?
GDP of Vietnam: 202.6 Billion USD.
GDP of China: 11.2 trillion USD.
Both in 2016. Again, 2 unit spaces of difference.
Ok, you might say “well, China has a greater population, so obviously they're going to have a GDP greater than Vietnam.”
Vietnam’s GDP per capita was roughly 2000 USD. That's equivalent to China's GDPPC in 2006. With such a huge population, China has still managed to be on a steady rise of GDPPC. Currently, that number is $6000 more.
Military?
China has the most active personnel in the world
China has nukes
China has aircraft carriers
China has 5th generation jet fighters
China has 3rd gen type 99 tanks
China has everything Vietnamese people are desperate for. How is China jealous of Vietnam? How is Vietnam “Giant?”

我想着尽可能严肃的回答这个问题。
首先，巨人般的？指的是土地吗？
越南总的土地面积为32.9万平方公里。
中国总的土地面积为960万平方公里+47万平方公里的海域面积，使得中国这个国家的领土达到了1000万平方公里。
如果你已经位居二线了，你自然知道谁才是这里的巨人。

第二。巨人般的，是指的人口吗？
最近不久，越南的总人口数是9500万人口。
中国？世界上人口最庞大，13.8亿人口。
我们谈论的这两个国家根本不在一个层次。
第三，指的是经济吗？
越南国内生产总值为：2026亿美元
中国国内生产总值为：11.2万亿美元

都是2016年的数据。再说一遍，2个不在一个层次。
如果你说：“这没什么，中国人口更多，所以很明显相比越南他们自然会有更庞大的经济。”
越南人均国内生产总值大概是2000美元。这大致跟中国2006年的人均总值相当。基于中国有如此庞大的人口，中国依旧在设法保持人均GDP的稳步增长。当前，人均GDP在6000多美元。
第四，指的是军队吗？

We helped them at Vietnam war and they won.
Then they declared the war at the frontier.
We helped them build their country such as dam and so on, those important basic constructions
They are trying to take ours islands and reefs.
China do welcome to be others friend.
But we do chose friends. Not everyone.

Look at the rediculous 9 dashed-line in the East Sea - the so-called South China Sea and tell who has taken islands from whom? What China wanted from their help were Vietnam’s islands. Chinese governement has misled its people for decades and made them have a bad image of Vietnam, not fair…

China claims the 9 dashed-line because that territory belonged to China since long time ago in the history and that’s legal. I’m sorry for that but every country should fight for their own best and you cannot blame them for that. I know Vietnamese have right to do that also, so I wouldn’t blame you for doing the same. But no war please we can negotiate that on the table.

Your comparson does not sound appropriate because it makes me relate to benefit of thief and victim. The thief claims to have right to steal and say if his/her victim wants to steal other’s stuff, it is totally victim’s right!

Victims of what? Victims of American Agent Orange ? Or victims of famine caused by the Japanese invaders? Vietnamese always think China is their only enemy by forgetting the truth that South Korea, Japanese and Americans had slaughtered many of their people when China was supporting their back, providing supplies, weapons and even our own people to fight for the war for the Vietnamese independence and Vietnam war against the US. You just consider yourself as the victim and are never aware of how much you owed Chinese people because your textbook told you only part of the truth.
Let me tell you something, my answer above is just trying to be polite. The 9 dashed-line was a legal legacy from the government of Republic of China. Besides that 9 dashed-line was not 9 dashed-line, it was 11 dashed-line and in the 1950s China and Vietnam were in brotherly relationship then China gave up on 2 dashed lines of sovereignty. Besides that, the nansha and hsisha islands are belonged to China since long before and were acknowledged by the North Vietnamese government. Please tell me for what reason Chinese government should give up on the rights on those islands?

I am going to add 1 more view point from Vietnam. As you might read from Benson’s answer, China and Vietnam have very big gap in many criteria like lands, population, economy, army size…So China has nothing to jealous to Vietnam.
Conflict on the sea and ownership of island:
Vietnam and China now having conflict on the sea on many islands (include Spratly Islands, Paracel Islands). On these islands Vietnam having full historical and legal evidences to prove that past Vietnamese states have claimed sovereignty over Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly). I wish Vietnam would raise louder voice on this (like Philipines did) so we settle the issue with China in a fair and peaceful way.
You can look at historic data and support us on the conflict keep peace. You just need to raise your voice …

这里我想从越南的视角再补充几句。正如你可能阅读了Beson的回复一样，中国和越南在很多标准上都差距巨大，如：土地、人口、经济和部队规模……所以中国没什么需要嫉妒越南的。
海上岛屿的归属权冲突：

越南和中国就海洋上众多岛屿问题正在发生冲突（包括南沙群岛、西沙群岛）。越南有充分的历史依据和法律依据证明，过去的越南就已经声索了这些群岛的主权了。我希望越南在这事儿上的声音能更嘹亮一些（就像菲律宾之前的那样），也就是说我们越南要跟中国公正和平的解决这个问题。
你能查看历史数据，这些数据都在这场冲突中支持我们。我们只需更加理直气壮点……

I am suspecting that however made this question simply wants to bring hate on Vietnam. You probably already know that China is bigger in most aspects. Please don't write these questions again, they mate bad for Vietnam. And if you are Vietnamese, then know that all this question brought was people calling Vietnam a tiny dwarf compared to china, if you really want to make Vietnam better, write real questions.

Because Vietnam has the most beautiful girls in Asia; China on the other hand, has a shortage of girls due to the ill conceived “one child” family planning policy.
Wouldn’t you be jealous too if your neighbor is a giant with gigantic six pack abs like Vietnam is and hordes all the beautiful women in the neighborhood?

Hi Chinese friend.
We are Vietnamese and We are living in Viet Nam. Ha Noi is our capital, we don’t care anything about China or the rest of this world. We, Vietnamese love peace, we don’t want to war or get invaded. One thing I don’t understand is with that huge of land and people, what does Chinese Gov need more from the word. Look what Chinese Gov is doing for India, Lao, Cambodia, Myanmar or even Japan it’s true clearly to understand.
I know Chinese Gov has money, has popupation which are enough to wipe Vietnam in 1 second but I just let you know we are from different countries or perhaps same culture because of thousand years of history. Yes, we don’t want Chinese Gov does something harm for our country.
Lastly, I am trying to figuring out how can you build for country to one of top 10 country but everything you bring to my country are such mess, poison and sickness

you mean Vietnam’s seeking for conquering Cambodia, Laos in 1979?
it’s true that a unified Indo-cina Penisula will be a giant.
but Chinese are focusing on freedom and libration of people under opression of Vietnam military, that is not jealous at all.
That is how Chinese love freedom

Jealous yes.
Vietnamese female to male ratio is larger than 1. Of course we would be jealous. It's very hard for a single, less wealthy man to find a spouse in China nowadays, especially (those who are from) rural towns in the Northwest.
