It is difficult to ascertain, though I have heard many Indians admit to that effect in private. I personally have a hearty contempt for these IQ tests, especially when measured across countries (such as these Why China Is Far Superior To India) . Like any civilized modern man, I frown upon the whole idea of thinking some group inherently better or worse than some other group
Let us say the Chinese are more intelligent than Indians. So what? Being intelligent is just one component of success in the modern world. Success in life has many more angles: drive, hard work, emotional intelligence, perseverance, ability to spot opportunities, cunning, pragmatism, relationships, etc. Indians match the Chinese is these areas, if not surpass them. For example, how does one explain Indians dominating the US National Spelling Bee and (to a lesser extent) the National Geography Bee, but not the Math Bee or the Coding Bee? I don’t know!
Since I write primarily about history, let me make a point from history. How did the Chinese let the Indians influence it for over a thousand years, if indeed the Indians are less intelligent than the Chinese? I am talking of the Indian influence of China - religion + philosophy + language in the first millennium of the CE. Cultural Interchange between India and China.
To be fair, I don’t see too many conceptual thinkers amongst Indians in my profession (i .e. outside Quora) and I do see far more East Asians. But that is more a cultural thing than innate intelligence.
Here in the USA, where I live, most of the gymnasts, swim teams, and sports teams have plenty of Chinese and almost no Indians. As far as athletic abilities are concerned, I can readily grant that Chinese of 2017 seem far superior. But as far as concerns intelligence, I don’t know!
I was in Paris last year. In all its museums - Louvre, Musée d'Orsay, Musée d'Art Moderne, and even the minor ones, you will find the Chinese by the bus loads. But not more than handful of Indians will be spotted in such places. Of course, you will find Indians atop the Eiffel tower, towards which all the Patel tourist buses head! And similar observations can be made across many cities of Europe and US. What do we infer from this? I have a theory: the PRC is encouraging its citizens to learn European civilization at its root by visiting all these museums. Why? Without a doubt, the PRC harbors the ambition of unseating the “decadent” West and one of the ways it hopes to do that is by understanding the West’s intellectual underpinning. So whether the Chinese are more intelligent or not, I do not know, but they are definitely more “intelligence respecting” and “intelligence admiring” !
These are some of my observations on this subject!

That’s a very tough one. Both nations produce some very learned people. I’ve met some very educated people from India and I’ve met some very accomplished and rich people from China. Chinese are currently far more wealthy but as far as intelligent? I don’t know. As a student studying politics in university, hands down I would choose someone from India to be far more learned concerning international affairs than someone from China. China until very recently has always been very inward looking and self-reliant, which is very good in many regards but it harbours an overly nationalistic set of people. India’s borders are very open in comparison. The two countries also have very different political systems which produced two different set of mindsets. Regarding business, I’d probably go with someone from China, though again both groups are very prent in the field. It’s tough. Both cultures are extremely conservative and place tremendous value in hard work, discipline, and education. I honestly don’t know which culture values hard work more because they’re both extremely hard working peoples. Definitely a tough one. What I will say is this, collectively as a population, China definitely far surpasses India collectively. India sadly has so much poverty, as does China, but far more impoverished. Many people sadly are still illiterate. Once India crosses those hurdles which I have no doubt she will, she will be on par with her Chinese counterpart. But as far as the educated upper middle class and upper classes, again, a very tough call. Both Xi Jinping and Narendra Modi are EXTREMELY intelligent and hard working leaders of their great nations. They both came from tremendous poverty and worked their way up purely with drive and discipline. When I think of China, I think of a very, very ancient region of the world with an exceptionally rich culture. I think of warfare, revolutions, discipline, and wisdom. When I think of India, I again think too of a very ancient nation, but one more so very diverse, very religious, very steeped in spirituality, the arts, food, and culture. I could be gravely wrong, but that’s what comes to mind.
I’ll give an analogy: if you ask for a task to be done by both someone from China and India, these are the results: The Chinese person will complete the task in seven minutes and give you your results. The person from India will complete the task and give you your results in eight minutes, but will smile and may even laugh with you, and of course the INFAMOUS head shake. (hahahaha. I respect both cultures and people equally though. I love people from China and their values and I love people from India and their virtues.
To conclude, both nations produce extremely bright, driven, and overall respectable, descent people. I was born in Guyana, a very small and poor country in the Carribean, but my ancestors are from Mother India. I've always felt far more connected to India opposed to Guyana because of what India represents. I also too since a very young boy have always deeply respected people from China. I lived in a predominately Chinese area and I remember seeing Chinese elders practicing tai chi very early in the morning. I rememb them buying herbs and tea. I also remember so many of the top students at school virtually all being Chinese. Look at the greatest academic institutions in the world. They're all flooded with both people from China and India which says so much about these two great nations. The defining quality of the success of a nation is their attitude towards education and higher learning. Both Chinese and Indians are equally hungry for education which speaks so greatly about them both and which is too also the defining quality of them.If I was held at gun point and had to choose though, I think I’d go with China, after a long indecisive pause, however.

Overall China is more “developed” than India, whichever way you look at it. And the possible reasons are : let’s face it - Chinese are more hard working and disciplined than Indians. But also because Chinese autocratic governance have far higher enforcement abilities in their disposal.
Coming to the argument of “intelligence” : China is ethnically and culturally very homogeneous Nation. And Chinese government have created far more effective (and mandatory) school education system, which undoubtedly makes a random sample of Chinese school students better performing than Indian counterparts.
Real comparison would be comparing Indian and Chinese creme de la creme - the brain drain immigrants in “neutral” grounds like USA or UK. And there they perform equally well. However, if Corporate presence in high-skilled STEM sector is any indicator, then Indians outperform the Chinese.
Even in Chinese dominated Singapore, Indian origin school students outperform Chinese in more technically intensive A level (in spite of lagging behind both Chinese and Malays in more rote-learning dependent O-level ). Google : Indian Singaporeans (Wiki). Additionally Indians are more likely to have tertiary education than any other migrant groups.
This analysis doesn’t “prove” by any stretch that as a RACE, Indians are better than Chinese. Just like Shanghai school students’ Maths and reading comprehension scores doesn’t prove otherwise.

Yes they certainly are, India currently has an average IQ of 81–85 something in the range of Arab Nations and slightly higher than African countries, as compared to China which has an average IQ of 112–115 which is much higher than India’s, this also explains why China is far ahead of India in almost every aspect, they are also more significantly harder working than Indians, though one must take into account the massive poverty and malnutrition levels of India which have a negative impact on its average IQ, maybe when India achieves a level of development similar to China’s today, then I predict the average IQ level of India to be atleast 100 or slightly more, also it depends on the region of India, Gujarati’s and South Indians certainly have higher IQ than north Indians as these regions are more developed, when South India achieves a level of development similar to China’s today, then I predict their average IQ to be 110–112. Though if it comes down to average IQ then China will always have a higher average IQ than India simply because of how diverse India is.

I will share a secret
In China the rural folks are not allowed to participate in any “international iq test” . If something of this sort is organized only tge urban , rich folks are not only allowed but pushed and prepared specifically for the supposed test. The rural folks are mostly dumb and will bring down the average iq. I don't remember taking any test though
In India urban+rural both both are considered in this sort of tests. No one is disqualified to bring up the average iq of a country

I do not believe one is superior than the other, however both are extremely hard working, and quest for higher learning,
But the difference is knowledge of English, once that gap is closed, it will be neck to neck competition, which is more or less we are seeing in Canada.

The answer in brief is yes. Chinese are more intelligent than Indians. Like all North East Asian peoples are more intelligent than South Asian population groups with origin in South Asia and having not the slightest bit of foreign ancestry.
Some factual errors in ripostes by Indians have to be pointed out here.
Despite the fact that in the last 6 to 7 years, there has been a concerted effort by the Western leaning Singaporean Lee dynasty to import busloads of Indians with fraudulent certificates and qualifications from India and granting them citizenship willy-nilly to help him secure a win in a rigged election. Tons of such examples have prompted the SG government to recruit a certification verification agent in India to ferret out fraudulent applicants for Singapore citizenship and permanent residence.
We still find that the ethnic Chinese in Singapore outdo the ethnic Indians in almost any internationally recognized and unbiased test of intellectual rigour. Be it PISA, TIMSS, GCE Ordinary Levels, International Baccalaureate, GCE Advanced Levels, or highly cited research publications in scientific, technological, engineering, mathematical or related disciplines.
The data on the percentage of students in Singapore, by ethnicity, who passed at least 5 Ordinary Level exams for each year starting from 1987 to 2015 are given. In each of these years, the ethnic Chinese are the highest performing ethnic group, followed by “Others” who are followed by Indians.
The percentage of ethnic Chinese who passed the Mathematics exam at the Ordinary Level is also consistently higher, by 14–22 percentage points for the years from 1987 to 2015.
In summary, there is no factual basis to the loose talk that ethnic Indians outperform ethnic Chinese in any way in any intellectual test or intelligence test in Singapore, or for that matter, in neighbouring Malaysia where the Chinese are disadvantaged and at the receiving end of majority ethnic Malay discrimination, much like the ethnic Malays are at the receiving end of majority ethnic Chinese discrimination in Singapore.
For Malaysia, you can search for the names of top scoring students in SPM (equivalent or comparable to Ordinary Levels) or STPM (equivalent or comparable to Advanced Levels) for any of the past years. The ethnic Chinese usually dominate (i.e. populate around half or more of the top scoring student body) or come close to dominating, whereas the ethnic Indians who make up 7 % of the population are nowhere in sight. The ethnic Chinese consist of around 25% of Malaysia’s population.
We can also see that none of the ethnic Indian majority states or countries in the world run and managed by Indians, starting from India to Mauritius to other places with significant Indian presence like Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, Suriname, Fiji or any other such place is a developed country with high income, education, low crime, clean, orderly, neat, least or minimally corrupt, technologically advanced, scientifically high achieving society.
Compare this with the achievements of Chinese majority Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan or Macau, or Chinese-affiliated Japan and Korea (which are both Confucian countries).

Having worked with the the Chinese, the Koreans and Japanese, I have a hunch that their visio spatial skills are of higher order than Indians.This become apparent when you consider their lead in consumer goods like phones, Television etc.
I cannot comment on the verbal and analytical skills as most them don't study with English as their primary language and therefore may not be able to express themselves well.Even on this subject people of chinese Ethnicity in Malaysia and Singapore, who do have English as their primary language,do almost as well as Indians.

Definitely Indian are more intelligent. Indian have better social skills and better English than Chinese. I guess because of that there are many many phone scams happened in North America originated from India. There are many dishonest businesses run by Indian in US and Canada. That is very sad.

Don't think so. The cultures differ widely and the way to approach these so called 'standardized' tests and hence the results as quoted in many studies.
If Chinese were more intelligent, do we see that in day-to-day life (more Chinese origin professors in top universities/top executives in fortune 500 and such). I think I would say the corollary was true.
I don't even want to mention the recent "Baidu" cheating scandal in the image-net competition, and one reason could be that their culture might push them to succeed at any cost, irrespective of IQ or other natural talents.
I have worked with Chinese guys who graduated from UC-Berkeley with a CS degree, but were as smart as a peanut.  So the culture to 'succeed at any cost' is more prent with Chinese when compared to Indians.

Well, Chinese are intelligent than Indians, but we can't call repeating something that already has been done intelligence, it's called copying. They are good copy cats. Since Indians innovate, research is where Indians have been beating all other countries including China. But is there any IQ test that can accurately measure the innovation capacity of an individual? No, you can't measure the innovation capacity by some crappy IQ test. Wow! people have gone to some extent to substantiate their claims. Anyway, I would like to share my two cents from my experience of over 2 years of studying with Chinese students and being surrounded by them.
I think that both Indians and Chinese have certain abilities that are not so commonly found in the other race. For example, Indians can NEVER be as gritty as the chinese (again, before you pull out your gun to shoot me, this is just my assessment. I can be wrong). Chinese have supernatural level of commitment when it comes to studying and being diligent.
That said, I TRULY believe that Indians are skilled at “smart-work” whereas chinese are okay with doing “donkey-work”. Indians are walking cost-benefit analysts. If the (expected) rewards don’t justify the effort, its a no-deal for them. Chinese I have noticed will just do something because well, it has to be done! They don’t question as much as the Indians do. They don’t try to find out the rationale behind certain things, and would blindly do somethings (again, my observations please). I distinctly remember certain instances when I would go to some smart chinese guy from my class with a question and…. he could have been class topper but more often than not, he would just try to recall from memory if something of that sort was taught by the professor or not. I would end up with a response like “this was not taught” or “it is not to be studied”. Indians on the other hand try to think hard about the problem statement and of an explanation regardless of the prof. did. This is one thing I really like about Indians - they are self-starters, they are problem-solvers. (This phenomenon probably is also reflected in the two countries rankings as “startup-nations”)
Its really difficult to rank them because I have seen perverse as well as brilliant outliers from both the countries.

Statistically, the Chinese score higher than the Hindus in IQ (Intelligence Quotient) tests, on average, and the gap is fairly large.
Hindus score around 78-81, about the same as Saudi Arabia or some other Bedouin country, and a little higher than many African countries.
Chinese from the Mainland or PRC score around 105 nowadays due to a whole slew of factors like lack of sufficient iodized salt intake, malnutrition, tiger penis eating (yes, this is a real Chinese custom) and such. Interesting results emerge for historically intellectual provinces like Zhejiang Province - that scored something like 115 in 2005. Scores from other neighbouring provinces and cities like Shanghai also hovered around the same mark.
There may be reasons to believe that the average Chinese IQ in the mainland can reach the levels of Zhejiang province.
