China is growing,and it is growing at a very fast rate. This intimidates many countries,particularly the west. They tried everything they can, to suppress the China’srise as a superpower.
But all effortswent in vain.
India is nowherenear the west in terms of the soft and hard power they have. This means thatIndia cannot stop China from becoming a superpower. China’s rise as asuperpower is inevitable.
On the contrary,as an Indian, I would argue to not to create unnecessary tension between thetwo countries. Because, in conflicts china can do more harm to India than viceversa.
India should onlyfocus on its people and economy. Creating hurdles in the rise of any country isunnecessary and unethical.

Let's not work forthe fall of China, but for the rise of India.
We must work hardto make our country stand top in every field.
Currently India islagging behind many countries in many fields. some of them include:
Defense:Development of new fighter jets, missiles, radars, stealth technology, aircraftcarriers, submarines etc.
Artificialintelligence: last year China has surpassed U.S in the number of scientificpapers published in the field of AI. But we stand no where in the top positionsin this race. Few AI startups are budding in India now, but we should makemajor break throughs by doing more researches.
Basic amenities:we severely lag in this field. Every Indian must get food, water, electricity,access to basic medical aids, sanitation facilities and most importantly goodeducation. These things bring a major change in the standard of living.
Education: Remember,we are the ones who built world's first University, but today we are strugglingto get a spot in the top 200 universities of the world. Today most of us(noteveryone) are only interested in earning money than inventing something new.This is where the problem starts. We must innovate tons of new things.We(government) must invest heavily in research.
A survey indicatesthat not even 1% of the top 1% researches done around the world is of Indianorigin. I hope this is enough to explain our current scenario.
We must giveutmost importance to innovation.
Chinese filed 1.1million patents in 2016 but Indians filed only 45000 patents.
Refer China filed1.1m of patents in year 2016 and India only filed less than 45,000 patents inyear 2016. Why has India only filed less than 5% patents of China? For moreinformation.
We must donateatleast a small part of our income for a good cause. Helping one another may bea catalyst in the process of developing our country.
Development iswhen the people of a country are happily living with access to all basicamenities and focus on “what's next?”

As a Chinese, Iwould never raise similar question, e.g. “How do we stop India from becoming asuperpower?” or “How do we stop India from becoming stronger?” I believe mostChinese will not raise this question. I do think you should not carry ablinkered vision which will definitely do harm to your own country. It is muchharder for India to hurt China than China hurt India since China is much strongernow. Think about the Soviet Union and US, vicious competition destroyed theweaker one in the end.
To be honest, weChinese think that India could hardly cause great threaten to us, althoughborder conflicts may make Chinese feel uncomfortable. The gap between China andIndia has become larger and larger indeed.
We Chinese doregard India as a potential and repected rival since you have two advantagesover us. First, you have more young adults, which means more sufficient labourforce, while China is now facing severe aging problem. Second, you have betterrelationship with international community, but China has been regarded as athreaten due to the possibility to become so-called superpower and differentideology with most countries. However, these advantages are far from enough. AsI know, India has many internal problems, especially caste system, economicinequality and poor education. Any of these problems cause greater threat toIndia’s development than China does.
If some (I knowmany Indians in Quora are wise and far-sighted ) Indians insists on China’sthreat, I think one important reason is because China has become the workshopof the world, seizing the chance that may belong to India. However, how couldIndia miss this chance under better international environment and similarfundamentals in the past decades? Recently many industries in China have beenmoving out due to increasing labor and land costs, but most plants have movedto Southeast Asia rather than India till now. India may lose the second chanceto increase its manufaturing industry.
To conclude,firstly, I don’t think Indians can do anything to stop China from becomingsuperpower, and it is even easier for China itself to make mistakes and fallbehind again. Second, India may lose more in any form of conflicts with China.Third, India has its own advantages but suffers a lot of internal problems, andproducing conflicts with China cannot solve these problem. Last but not least,I do think China and India could stand for developing countries and Asia, wewere both countries with an ancient and strong civilization. As a non-chineseand non-indian.
This is thedifference between Chinese and Indian, I guess.
Chinese focus onachieving their goals, while Indian focus on being SKEPTIC and BASHING Chinaand Chinese on the internet, instead of trying to become a partner with Chinato achieve what the Chinese have always been saying a win-win situation.
I still rememberthere was once I was trying to do business with an Indian fellow, out of suddenhe said such stuff “the reason why Chinese succeeded is because Chinese mixblood with Jews”.
I guess jealousyis what Indian has been busy with all these online mean comments, because of“because there is freedom of speech, therefore can irresponsibly spread hateonline and can create more tension between both countries”.
To me this is likea joke, China is the strongest country in Asia, Indian should feel proud thatwe are all Asians, and Asians have strong representation in this world whichhas always been dominated by the west in the past, and kept telling people whatto do. But, instead of that, your goal is trying to “prevent China frombecoming strong”.

Get your stufftogether as a country, look at what they’ve done to become so powerful, and tryto see how you can apply it at home.
There are reasonsthat China is currently so far ahead of India despite being in comparablestates at the end of the second World War.
Great prosperitydoes not come easily. It does not happen naturally. Rather, it must be foughtfor. The battle for prosperity and societal progress must be fought in everyhome, in every street, by every individual day after day after day for a periodof time that can span generations. It is a constant process of pushing aboulder up a hill, knowing that any carelessness will result in losing controlof the boulder and undoing all the hard work that has been done.
You and yourcountry are going to have to make some extremely difficult choices, if youexpect to see India become a prosperous nation before you die, and even then itmay take your whole life for you to see it happen.
To stop China’srise to superpower status, India will have to beat them — catch up, AND surpassthem, all while China continues growing at 7% year after year after year.
Look at what they’vedone. They are the country that is almost singlehandedly responsible for theworld’s poverty reduction in the last thirty years, transforming from anagrarian society to an industrialized society faster than any other country inhistory.
India will have tolearn from that success, replicate it, and somehow find a way to do evenbetter.
India will likelyhave to leave behind many of its most destructive traditions to do so. But ifprosperity and superpower status is what India truly wants, India must bewilling to sacrifice anything to push that boulder to the top of the hill,before the gap grows so big that China can never be beaten.

India can't doanything, and there is no need to do anything.
Keeping asideannexation of some areas during modern state generation,throughout history bothIndia and China have no record of expansionist endeavors unlike U.K.,Japan,USAetc.
There was a reasonIndia was a closed non aligned socialist type economy, Infact it stayed so even15 years after China started becoming capitalist, India only changed after USSRbroke.
So one can sayIndia was even more socialist than China. India was sick of West for colonisingher.
India should payless heed to being projected as an Democratic antidote to Communist China, itsmostly propaganda by West.
Because even as aIndian, it's a joke when India and China are compared right now. It's not justeconomy, it's also extra cocurricular parameters e.g. Olympics.

You do not.
You only helpIndia to continue to progress such that it can remain (or become) aninfluential sovereign force in the world regardless of what China becomes.
Right now, in mycountry, the President is taking what he thinks is a hard stance against Chinain order to reduce China’s growing powers in the world.
In reality,though, what he is doing is increasing China’s power relative to the USA. Thisis because, by cutting ties with China, he is making China less and lessconcerned with upsetting us, as it has less and less to lose in doing so.
Another thing he isdoing is ruining relations with other countries - again due to his “AmericaFirst” policy philosophy - and thereby causing those countries to establishcloser relations with China.
India does notneed to take an approach like this.
If you want toremain China’s equal, what you need to do is look inward, kill your owncorruption, and open your culture and your economy to the world. This will makeyou vibrant and strong. Whereas if India tries to “protect” itself by closingitself off to the world - to China in particular - what it will do is throttleits own economy while causing its own bad ideas to fester and grow in a closedenvironment.
Like China, Indiahas amazing potential right now. There is no reason why India and China cannotcontinue to progress and grow side-by-side. China is doing it by increasinglyengaging in the world and being competitive. India should do the same.
I have often toldpeople in my country that war between the USA and China is basically the worstpossible thing that could happen in the world today, and that we should takegreat pains to avoid it. Thinking about it more, though, I think that warbetween India and China might be even worse than that. This kind of zero-sumthinking could lead to that.
In short, don’ttry to force China to stay down. You won’t be able to anyway, and it would bedevastating for you to try. What you can do is choose to rise with China suchthat, despite China’s power, you have nothing to fear. That is what Indiashould be focused on.

In 1991 the USSRcollapsed, and the country was cast in poverty for over 15 years, until thetime Putin took over (whether he is responsible for the recovery or not isanother debate).
China certainlyhas the signs of a bloated giant about to collapse - but it’s hard to sayanything with certainty.

If you think“stopping a country from becoming a superpower” will solve the problem… thenthat means you want to create tensions between the 2 countries… Why notpeacefully develop and use talk rather than fists? Ultimately, both countrywill suffer both in economics, and military if they choose to fight. India willtake a bigger blow considering China’s GDP is way higher. Not the mention,India’s GDP Per Capita is 1,709 USD in the current year. China’s GDP Per Capitais at 8,123 USD in the current year. Clearly Chinese people are doing betterthan Indians in terms of GDP Per Capita. Which means people in your country arevery poor. Why not focus on India’s internal issues rather than external issues?

China is alreadyon track to become an economic superpower and will challenge world superpowerin defence in few years .
China has biggerinfluence in world matters than India .
China spends a lotin creating new infrastructure,their policies strongly favours local companies,they have a strong manufacturing industry .
Lot of Chinesecompanies have a global presence ,we are a bit behind them .
Instead ofstopping it (which we cannot ) we should learn (not everything )from China andits rise to become a superpower .
For example ,Chinaand Chinese companies are investing a lot in AI and quantum computing ,this issomething we should emulate from them.
China is opening anew quantum research supercenter
We have learnedfrom our mistakes of economic crisis of 91 when the economy was about tocollapse , we have come a long way but we still have a lot to do .
We should lookinto our issues first which are stopping us from becoming a superpowermainly,corruption ,tax evasion ,lack of good infrastructure.

China already is asuperpower, and will continue to grow in strength. My only advice to Indiawould be to ditch religion and the caste system, as these are the biggestimpediments to growth (not only in India but elsewhere too, by the way).

Your countryshould not try to stop China from being a superpower, but should focus onimproving the life of their own people, in an economic sense, not military.Concentrate on educating your people to compete on a world stage, and encouragethem to open a buisness in India. Try to improve the living standards for yourpeople improve education standards. Encourage more national pride.

The thought of itis evil. Why would you stop a country from progressing improving people’slivelihood? You should make your own country, India, a better place.

Don’t askquestions like “how do we stop China from becoming superpower”.
Build moretoilets.
Be modest, notyelling things like “our … are the best” or “we are better than…”
Solve the garbageproblem.
Try to make bettertrains, cars etc, although I know your 80 kph snail trains are better than theChinese 300 kph bullet train.
Solve the airpollution problem.
Make India betterthan China.
