Everyone starts by copying someone else. The Sovietsstarted with the Christie tanks and within 20 years they had T-34s.
It made no difference to the Germans where the designcame from, as it made no difference to the early US pilots being shot down byZeros.
Also, from what I understand the Chinese already have experience with similar disciplines (maglev trains etc).

       每个人一开始都是模仿别人的设计，苏联军队的坦克一开始仿制美国一战后的克里斯蒂坦克，可不到20年他们有了T-34坦克。
       设计来自哪国并不会影响德国人（的进攻），也不会影响美国空军被日本零式飞机击落（的数量）。
       此外，据我了解，中国人已经有过类似工程经验（磁悬浮列车）。

Thus, the traditional story about hubris and underestimating an enemy isjust wrong as America had correctly judged Japan's industrial capabilities-  it was actually a case of misinterpretingintelligence by not understanding the enemy's mindset (which is actually a farmore important lesson to understand).
