All things considered (gas prices, limited supply of gasm etc), it's no mystery why this is becoming a necessity. However, the thing that is not mentioned in the article is the combined effort of this, and solar power. Those familiar with the larger cities in China will see that there are many buildings (along with their charging stations) that are dotted with solar panels. Without a cleaner way of generating the electricity, electric cars really don't "save" much (environmentally speaking). However, with alternatives (such as solar and wind-farms, etc), small steps CAN be made.

Sadly, the US (California) used to be "leading the way" for electric cars...but those cars were all "recalled"...for reasons that were never fully dexplaine. Those that suspect the oil lobby may well be right, and for those that are interested in how that entire situation worked out...please find and watch "Whatever Happened To The Electric Car?". It's an eye-opener.

Electric cars are good in cities, but China and other countries will use coal to produce the juice. The population of China at 1 billion 376 million makes it the world's largest market for most anything, so no surprise here.. The oppressive taxation in the U.S. and depressed economy coupled with an ineffectual economy stimulus have done their job in slowing R&D and in in some cases shipping it offshore. The manufacturing jobs will done in the future by robots and those with a high school diploma and a lunch bucket will never go to work, unlike what their factory worker parents say.

For some strange reasons, the EV markets in China continue to ignore the range extending gas engine inside the EV. Without that, you always have to watch your available range. This is not carefree driving. You will get high blood pressure in the long run.

We have very few companies build electric car in this country and GM is starting to sell car made in China here. People need jobs and companies are giving jobs away to China. The gasolins cars and truck are standing on the same ice, that coal and oil were standing on a few years ago.

Oh boy, anyone who has travelled extensively in China would know EVs are not a good option for large cities. Where are they going to install charging stations in cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Wuhan, Harbin, or Guangzhou?

They could never build them to our strict standards - And what guarantee can a company within a Communist State uphold. These little rice-burners are very small ideal for bid cities but most of our cities are not that big with an exception of a few.
