Pro, con or undecided, all can agree that the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) is a bear. Its size, complexity and the extreme likelihood that it will yield a host of unintended consequences make any singular assessment simply impossible. The agreement neglects enough to tempt an outright rejection. At the same time, the geopolitical advantages make it hard to dismiss—and it does do something to support the liberal international economic order on which America’s prosperity rests, its global influence depends, and with which its fundamental national interest has long identified. Here are some of the good, the bad and the muddled.

Sorry but as a economic treaty it should be rejected solely on the grounds that it was secretly negotiated. I have no patience for governments that don't want to have to "deal" with the messyness of democracy
Throw the whole thing out and renegotiate it in a transparent fashion.

The USA has been owned and ruled historically by an oligarchy under the ideological guise that Americans rule themselves under Democracy. The US oligarchy is rapidly losing world power, and The TPP is an attempt to regain some. What it does is elevate the oligarchy's banks and corporations ABOVE the governments of various homelands, trying to establish a law, rules and power based on Private Enterprise. Amazingly, the corporations will be able to sue the governments if they lose possible profits through environmental or social justice laws and actions.
Articles like the above try to obfuscate the intent of TPP under the guise that it could be worse. Well yes, anything can, but the purpose of TPP is to take away the remaining power of the people and drive us into the ground. This is Unmentionable in media articles, since the media serve the interests of the oligarchy, not the American people.

美国从来都是由寡头们所拥有和统治的，而这一统治在明面上的伪装即是，意识形态里美国人民在民主原则下领导者自己。美国的寡头们正在迅速的失去世界上的力量，而TPP就是他们重获一些力量的一次尝试。TPP能做到的就是讲寡头们的银行和公司提升到了高于代表多数人的政府之上，以建立一个以私人公司为基础的，以法律、规矩和力量为依据的社会。令人惊讶的是，这些私人公司的利益若是因环境或社会正义性法律法规而可能受到损失时甚至可以起诉政府。

The real currency manipulator is the US with what they called quantitative easing which is money printing.

Funniest part is that TPP has no real enforceable mechanism against currency manipulation by its members for the very obvious reason you have stated.

China doesn't really need the TPP in my estimation. The emergence of the Chinese-led multilateral financial institutions, the transcontinental "One Road, One Belt" initiative, the Chinese interbank cross-border payment system (CIPS), the security related Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and the upcoming Far Eastern trade community (RECP) will serve all of China's geoeconomic & geopolitical needs. They will reinforce the military, economic, and social reforms that President Xi Jinping is executing in China.

Vietnam is taking a huge risk with the TPP. The hope is that it will decrease their economic vulnerability to China by increasing trade with the U.S. & Japan. The risk is what the independent labor unions bring to the table. Foreign investors were selecting Vietnam as part of their "China + 1" investment strategy, due to its similarities to China, including NO independent labor unions. These independent labor unions can not only greatly increase business costs for them but also could prove a threat to the VCP (Solidarity, anyone?).

The TPP was designed to make china behave or be kept out. china will never able to abide by the guidelines.
