There is a BIG difference between “challenge for global dominance” and “ seeking for sovereign independence”.
China is not challenging US for world dominance. China is fighting for its own rightful sovereign independence afforded to every sovereign country on earth.
It should be the goal of every independent nation, just as it is the right of every individual to have his/her own human rights.
If you have a bully at a school, someone will have to stand up to defend his/her won personal right to not be bullied. Eventually, it benefits all who are at the school.
In that regard, China is not the only one. And the list seems to be growing to include the bully’s “friends”, otherwise known as “vassal states”.
China, and the Chinese people, do not want to dominate. Neither do they want to be dominated and become a vassal state!

挑战全球主宰地位和寻求主权独立之间还是有很大差异的。中国并没有挑战美国的全球主宰地位。中国是在寻求自己的主权独立，这是任何主权国家都应该具有的。这应该成为每个独立国家的目标，就好比每个个体都应该拥有自己的人权一样。而美国则想在所有方面主宰全球。

There’s also global military dominance. China has been extremely rapidly expanding its military (thanks to all the money it’s started making) and is behaving more and more aggressively towards its neighbors. However, it has very little ability - and interest - in projecting its force abroad. It may be able to bully its neighbors but it won’t be able to intervene to prevent genocide, if it even wanted to. It’s not really becoming globally militarily dominant.
Chinese (and Indian) culture is becoming more influential as well. A big reason for that is the economic development, but there’s also deliberate attempts by the government to promote Chinese culture abroad by doing things like opening Confucius Institutes. I don’t personally think it’s becoming dominant, but I don’t know if that can be objectively measured, so it’s moot.

然后就是全球军事主宰了。中国急剧扩张自己的军事，对邻居越来越嚣张。然而，中国没有能力也没有兴趣将兵力投放海外。或许可以欺负邻居，但是无法干涉从而阻止种族屠杀。中国还不具有军事上支配全球的能力。
中国和印度文化也愈来愈具有影响力。其中一大原因就是经济发展了，但是政府也有努力在国外推广中国文化，比如开办孔子学院。我不认为中国文化将会主导全球，但是我不知道这是否可以客观衡量，所以悬而未决。

That’s only your perception. China doesn’t challenge the USA for world dominance, it’s wrong and unhealthy to have such views. The growing concerns about an increase in Chinese influence through the country's One Belt One Road infrastructure program, is both unnecessary and unwarranted. The notion that China could possibly displace the United States for world dominance may seem preposterous. Americans seemed to tell the Chinese not to challenge the status quo.
If you look at Chinese history, she was the wealthiest, socially most tranquil, scientifically most advanced and arguably the best governed society on the planet. It is determined eventually to restore itself to these heights.
Ultimately, Americans should get used to the notion that the major challenges to them from China are not, in fact, bilateral. They are global in nature.

这只是你的看法。中国没有挑战美国的全球主宰地位，这样的想法是错误和不健康的。担心中国可以通过一带一路基建项目而提高自己的影响力，这种担心是不必要和站不住脚的。认为中国会替代美国成为全球霸主，这是可笑的。美国人貌似在告诉中国人不要挑战现状。
如果你看中国历史，曾经是最富有，社会最安宁，科技最先进，治理最好的社会。中国的目标不过是复兴到这种高度而已。最终，美国人应该意识到来自中国的挑战并非是双边的，本质上这些挑战是全球性的。
