Japanese prisons are extremely dehumanising. To name a few, you cannot talk or socialize, your cell is not heated/cooled and the lights are not turned off, you must do work, you must face the wall.

日本监狱都很不人道的。举几个例子，比如：你不能说话，也不能社交、你的隔间没有供暖或者制冷、灯不能关掉、你必须劳动、必须面对墙壁站立。

And if you are bad enough to be on death row, you are not notified of the date of execution, so you must spend everyday in dread.

而且如果你罪大恶极到被判了死刑，那他们不会通知你什么时候行刑，所以你每天都处于恐惧之中。

So no, prison life, in any country, is not fun.

I had an empty cell with nothing I can bring in and absolutely nothing to do except reading a book during the day (books they lend are taken away after 8pm). I couldn't even remove the clothes I was given and use it as a cushion to sleep cos it is considered suspicious (apparently) and had to sleep with the lights on and it's forbiden to hide his face from the light. No way to smoke (I'm quite a heavy smoker) so I just couldnt sleep at all (about 4 hours in the whole 2 days).

我住在一间空牢房里，什么东西都不能带进去，也什么事情都不能做，除了白天看看书（他们借给我的书在晚上8点后就被收走了）。我甚至不能把给我的囚服脱掉，垫着睡觉，因为他们认为这种行为（看起来）很可疑。我也必须在灯亮的情况下睡觉，而且禁止把脸转到背光的地方。我还没有办法抽烟（我是个大烟鬼），所以我根本就睡不着（那2天只睡了差不多4个小时）。

They checked my whole body for anything I could hide, even my mouth. The food was really awful, the books they had were mostly in japanese but a few were in other languages, but pretty bad...
