Boeing's 737 Max made its international debut this week at the Farnborough airshow while Airbus was talking up the capabilities of its single-aisle rival the A320neo.

The company attended Farnborough Europe's biggest airshow as it looks to drum up international business for its jet which currently has 175 firm orders but mainly in Russia.

China has also been making a major play in the global aerospace industry. The state-owned Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (Comac) rolled out its C919 jet in 2015 another single-aisle aircraft to challenge Boeing Airbus and Irkut.

But it has faced severe delays. The Russian MC-21 will likely be as much an international "success" as the Russian Sukhoi Superjet 100. The MC-21 marketing guys know what this means and try to sell their jet as "non-Russian" .....

I was traveling to Russia last winter when I first flew on new Russian SSJ-100 aircraft.

Using american suppliers will cause you problems down the road. They always sneak in a poison pill to protect their home turf i.e. Boeing Airbus et. al. They will introduce a flaw or engineering deficiency on purpose...and Boeing and Airbus will reward them accordingly.

I haven't been to China but have traveled thru much of Russia. Anything of quality is imported. Boeing and Airbus won't be looking over their shoulder in our lifetime.

russian airplanes should at least maintain good records for arrival times. They seem to fall out of the sky regularly. While that might help their on-time status they might fall short on passenger satisfaction.

I have a bridge to sell the person who thinks western airlines are going to be buying any of these planes in any quantity if at all. The fact they are Russian and Chinese means airlines won't even look at them as viable options.

Yeah but being 4 meters wide is also going to make the aircraft less fuel efficient and the way people act like they are oblivious to others they probably will still take up the entire aisle while trying to get bags both in and out of the overhead bins.
