A shaded promenade traces the river in this southern Chinese city that — when the smog blows away — fills with couples dancing to the sunrise. Nearly 900 miles east, leafy boulevards and mountainside parks cover the former imperial capital of Nanjing.

Brown’s meetings began Sunday in the Sichuan provincial capital of Chengdu, part of a weeklong trip hinged on his mantra of climate change collaboration. Sichuan’s rivers and steep terrain have helped make it a hub for hydropower. Nanjing’s Jiangsu province, which he will visit on Monday, aims to position itself as a leader on renewable energy.

Officials are reinforcing regional partnerships — with the economic links they provide — in a quiet effort to ensure continued ties.

“As I see many problems in the world, many tensions and disruptions, I see a growing importance of partnerships such as the one we are building,” Brown told Sichuan Communist Party Secretary Wang Dongming, as the two regions prepared to sign a sister agreement.

I wish the Times would quit printing anything on joker Brown. The only 'green' he sees is tax money he pillages from the fewer and fewer California citizens who do pay their state taxes. It's a revolving door. Meanwhile, while yapping out both sides of his mouth, he continues to blow all his 'brown' around the world by leaving his incredible carbon footprint from all the jet setting he has been doing lately.

I'm sure Brown will have another plan that will cost Californians even more money that many of us just don't have. Our politicians will happily write legislation to help Brown take that money. I predict that more businesses and Californians will leave this state because of it.

The Chinese government rules by the law which means President Xi only deals with President Trump on policies. Govenor Brown's visit accomplishes nothing as China will never interfere into a foreign nation's politics. The Chinese government is keenly aware of the divisive position of California Democratic leadership against the Trump Presidency and White House. Therefore, they will distance themselves from California on policies because the diplomatic US-China relationship is more important. This trip was nothing more than Democratic propaganda for the upcoming 2018 Midterm election. President Trump made the correct decision by pulling out of the Paris Accord. The US has already paid $1 Billion dollars toward this contract and must pay another $2B by 2020 which will be used to develop infrastructure in foreign countries. California roads and infrastructure need repair, so it's better the money be spent here first. Then, $100B dollars per year will be paid by all 195 countries on the accord thereafter. Guess who will be paying the bulk of this if the US stays in the Paris Accord? Look in the mirror. Yes, there is a cost to the Paris Accord. It is a voluntary cost for some of the other nations, but highly unlikely for the US. That's why the other countries were so angry when President Trump pulled out. To be fair, Obama unilaterally crafted the Paris Accord without congressional approval. Trump never agreed to this. Furthermore, Americans are in the forefront of clean energy and we're very conscientious when it comes to Mother Earth. Reduce, recycle, and reuse is our motto. ? Americans don't need a contract to remind us to love Mother Earth.
