shan means mountain, so saying huangshan mtn is kind of redundant. also huang means yellow, supposedly named after the Huang emperor , the mythological emperor of the Han Chinese (the dominant ethnic group).

“shan”的意思就是山，所以，黄山后面再加一个”mountain”是一种冗余。还有“huang”的意思是黄，据说是以黄帝命名，这是汉族（占主导地位的民族）神话中的帝王。
