Hello.
I moved to China a few months ago to study. I already had the opportunity to meet some Chinese people, but we never really had longer interactions or stronger relations. Most new friends I got here are foreigners like myself, from the same uni.

几个月前我搬到中国学习。我已经有机会见到一些中国人，但我们从来没有真正有更长的互动或更紧密的关系。我在这里结识的大多数新朋友都是像我这样的外国人，来自同一个大学。

I noticed it really hard to get Chinese people to know better. The are very reserved, extremely busy (which I understand) . They keep to their own, closed circles and hardly have any initiative to hang out with foreigners.

I didn't realize it would be so hard to make some Chinese friends, while I'm living here, in China. Especially that I speak pretty good Mandarin and I'm able to communicate with them without many problems.

I tried University's associations and clubs, but they are usually reserved for Chinese students, not foreigners. Also, there are no events (in my Uni) for Chinese students and abroad students to hang out.

How do you make Chinese friends? I would really like to have good Chinese friends, not only to practice Mandarin, but also, to discover their culture (especially modern culture, which I want to research). I'm considering some apps, but what comes to my mind are dating apps like Tinder or Tantan.

I made my best chinese buddies who were genuine through a board game shop. point being, find a hobby, preferably a group hobby of course, make friends through this, I suggest a dance class, yoga, martial arts or boardgames

If they can accept you saying all three of these things, hold on to that Chinese person as they are open to criticism and a lot more interesting to hang out with than the average zhou.

1.English corner. I don't really need to say much about this. It's a corner where people practice their English. Don't be afraid to ask for Wechats.
2.The school clubs.

No they aren't. I know every school is different but I never heard of this. I feel like you are just going by hearsay and didn't bother checking out the clubs. I joined the calligraphy and dance club but I had many other clubs wanting me to join. This is one of the best ways to make friends.

1.Multicultural Day. Most schools have some event where the foreign students show off the culture of their home cultures. Great way to meet people.
2.Friends of friends. Not much needs to be said.
3.In your dormitory. Wave to people in your area. Eventually you will start noticing familiar faces. Once you are comfortable feel free to go up to them.
4.The halal canteen. I made a couple Hui and Xinjiang friends by constantly eating here.
5.The local bar. Don't come by yourself, that will be a little weird. Come with a foreign or Chinese friend.
6. The wangba. Not honestly a good option in my opinion because many people there are stuck in their own little world. Will likely ignore you. Worth a shot though.
7.Apps. This is more for females or gay males instead of friends. I haven't had much success with these.

5、你的宿舍 向你所在区的人挥手致意，最终你会发现熟悉的面孔，一旦你感觉不错，就可以开始交盆友了
6、网吧    在我看来，这并不是一个好的选择，因为很多人都被困在自己的小世界里，可能会忽略你，但值得一试。
7、手机应用  这更多的是针对女性或男同而不是朋友，这个我没怎么成功过。

I myself was raised in a family with my parents of different ethnicities (Chinese / American) and am familiar and live long to tell why and what people from the anglo-saxon cultures (US/UK/Aus) find it hard to understand and grasp about how the Chinese think. For any "expat" studying, living or doing business in China, there perhaps is not that much time for you to be immersed in the country to get that enlightenment - and you would hope there is some sort of shortcut or crash course to take. You may not find this piece of advice elsewhere behind China's Great Wall of censorship on the web, but I would suggest you read some introductory text - fair and plain ones that even a kid could understand - about the politics of China, which literally governs everything happening in China and people behave. You may wish to have a look at this recent book (https://www.amazon.com/Jinpings-Develop-Socialism-Chinese-Characteristics-ebook/dp/B077KCDFFK) which you may also grab from a main bookstore chain and can finish it within an hour to get a general idea of what Chinese people values.
