Traveled on a brand new CR 350kmh train with a new ticket feature. The red lights show that the seat has been paid for and green if not. This is lixed to the ticketing system but means no physical ticket check during the trip. Good innovation and cost savings there.

Jury is still out whether it is a great thing. Appearance wise it looks good but it's also extremely costly and already some of the older high-speed lines are starting to show their age and some stations are looking dilapidated and running at bare minimum to save money.
I'm just afraid when the economy inevitably tanks so will the entire high-speed train industry. Cuts will be across the board on the transport system which could make train stations less safe due to cuts in security and maintenance.

Every time I come back to Germany from China I feel like the railway systems is more fitting for Botswana than a first world country. It's the same trains they literally just ripped off the German trains but somehow manage to make it three times as fast and a million times as punctual.
The newer trains like in OP are even completely Chinese made.

LOL stop spreading your ignorance. The initial technology were purchased from Germany Japan France. And you just sourly called that purchase deal stolen like it was obtained from espionage. You are simply pathetic and can't face the fact that a third world country has better infrastructure than your home town's shabby 50mi/h trains.
Over the years Chinese railway industry has improved the tech significantly and is now much more advanced than the tech they purchase

Wait until you try Welsh rail and you'll feel like you're trying to commute to fucking everyday. We don't even have that new fandangled electricity stuff yet because Westminster hates our guts.
I think even horse and carriage would be faster and a private jet may just represent better value for money.

The trains can go as fast in Germany as well but most of the trains have to many stops so it doesn’t make sense to accelerate that much. Also in crowded areas like the Ruhrgebiet the fast trains share the rail with the regional trains which slows them down.
Going on the high speed tracks like Siegburg Bonn to Frankfurt Airport and it is way more comfortable than in China (no security check train stations usually in the city center you can be on the platform and go to the position your car stops whenever you want buying tickets without any id or queueing quiet zones in the car where loud speaking or using a phone is prohibited free wifi on the ICE trains which actually works pretty well real tables for being able to work and sockets for phone or laptop coffee brought to your seat beer and food can be bought in the Bistro).
By the way the screen in Germany does even show the start and end of the journey instead of having an unthoughtful red/green dot which creates a barrier on people with red/green colour blindness so people who do not have a seat reservation do know where they can sit without blocking a seat.
The issue with the German train system lies more on the regional side which has too crowded trains and lots of delays but ICEs are world class.

Never traveled German trains but they sound good. The colour blindness thing is scraping for a negative though. Only the people working on the train really need to see the colours anyway. Surely red/green colour blindness is very rare what happens to these people when they are driving cars and accidentally jump red lights due to colour blindness 😂

Engineering is about a million little design improvements. Indeed as you mentioned they improved on the 'technology transfer' they got.
But a big part of is that high speed rail requires long stretches of track that are fairly straight (instead of winding and wending and curving). That is really hard to do in Europe since many track lines follow old routes. The benefit of laying track down anew like in China is that they can be made very straight. Of course it helps to be able to demolish anything in its path that they want.

Botswana is a fairly wealthy country - per capita its GDP is higher than China. The reason their infrastructure doesn't reflect that is simply the extremely low population density.

And what do you mean by no physical ticket check? As far as i know the Laowai needs a paper ticket since he has no National ID card that can be used to purchase online tickets Yeah no ID card even though he pays a fortune in taxes in this country.
