披露：中国致命的低成本战机走向全球 [美国媒体]

Beijing and Islamabad have officiallysigned on their first export customers for the Chengdu/Pakistan AeronauticalComplex (PAC) JF-17 Thunder—which is also known as the FC-1 Xiaolong in itsnative China. Nigeria and Sri Lanka are set to become the first customers for theChinese jet.

According toNigeria’sPunch, the oil-rich African nation expects to buy three JF-17 in 2016.“Giving details of the weapons to be acquired for the operation of the Navy,the fiscal document states that the sum of N5bn ($25 million) is budgeted forthe procurement of three JF-17 Thunder multirole combat aircraft,” the paperreported citing a leaked budget document.

Meanwhile,DefenseNews reveals that Sri Lanka has sign on to buy an initial eight JF-17jets during Pakistani prime minister Nawaz Sharif's three-day visit to Colombo.News of the deal is likely to be met with fury from India, which has beenactively discouraging its neighbor from forging stronger defense links with Islamabadand Beijing. The JF-17 would be used to replace a portion of Sri Lanka’sexisting fleet of Chengdu F-7s, Israeli Kfirs and Soviet-built MiG-27 strikeaircraft.

It's wrong to say JF-17 will only be forlow-end market forever. It's true that JF-17 block 1 and 2 will continue to bepitched to third world countries but with JF-17 block 3, PAC and CATIC areplanning to up the ante by targeting high end air forces. JF-17 block 3 willeasily position itself among the world beating fighters for its low cost ofownership, maintenance, high availability, true multirole mission capability(Air to air, air to sea, and precision strikes), freeness of weaponintegration, alternative data link capability, GPS/Beidou GNSS guidance, AESA,IRST, HMD, Composite air frame, and sanction proof future. All this comes withno political or economic strings attached. There are strong signs that Egyptwill go for local production of 100+ JF-17 block 3's, Malaysia has givensignals and so has some other countries kept under wraps. 2016 will surprisemany.

Basically Sri Lanka have no potential enemysince she is an island in the middle of nowhere except India up north, so theJF-17 Thunder is basically to guard against India's potential intrusion intothe troubled north Tamil enclave.
India try to sell her Tejas to Sri Lankabut the Sri Lankans are smarter than the Indians. Why buy a potentially RiggedIndian plane that could be used against herself in a potential conflict withher northern neighbor?

Basically, the JF-17 is a 21st centuryMIG-21 and it's perfect for small to Medium Air forces that are budgetconscious and can't afford anything from America, Russia or Europe. It'sperfect for places such as Argentina, Cambodia, Laos, Central America, SouthAmerica and Africa.

假设新的政府不增加预算（这也不可能），那么这款战机也只是我们目前所能获得的最好战机而已。
如果西方主导思想的阿根廷军队能从过去25年武器禁售历史中吸取教训的话，那么从俄罗斯购买战机也是完全有可能的。
前提是他们能从中吸取教训，但是我怀疑他们可能做不到这一点。
顺便说一下，阿根廷军队想购买鹰鹫战斗机，但是受到英国阻挠，不出所料。
