BROOKLYN —A New York City Councilman iscalling for a law that will make it illegal for cops to have sex while on duty.

This comes after the NYPD  confirmed that 2 police officers accused ofraping an 18-year-old woman while on duty have been suspended without pay.

In conversations with colleagues, theofficers have insisted that the sex was consensual, sources told The Post.

"There is no such thing as consensualsex when someone is in police custody that is rape,"Councilman Mark Treyger said.

Councilman Treyger is drafting legislationthat would make it a crime for a police officer to have sex with a suspecttaken into custody.  This all stems fromallegations that two NYPD detectives had sex with a suspect in the back of apolice van in a  Chipotle parking lot on Cropsy Avenue in Coney Island backin September.  Treyger says their arelaws on the books for corrections officers and parole officers but not cops.

According to published reports, narcoticsdetectives working in Calvert Vaux Park found pot and prescription drugs on an18-year-old woman.  They are accused ofhandcuffing her inside an unmarked police van and forcing sex on her in theparking lot of a Chipotle restaurant in exchange for letting her go.

According to published reports, the copswill surrender on Monday.

"

Define authority. The only instance I canthink of are ones involving children.

It is not illegal for someone to sleep withtheir boss. If the boss says, "sleep with me or I will fire you", yesthats illegal. Explicit threat versus implied threat is the difference here. Asituation where someone feela uncomfortable saying no "because of theimplications" is shitty...but not illegal.

You should read the article. I was thinkingcop can't have sex with his wife while on call or something. Title was verymisleading.

There's a law for Corrections Officershaving sex with inmates, and a law for Parole officers having sex withparolees, but nothing for cops having sex with suspects. All three are obviousto me, but without the law there, the worst they can do is get fired.
