NEW DELHI: India's ties with China and not just Pakistan are likely to get even worse than they already are, according to the US's intelligence chief.

新德里：根据美国国家情报局长表示，不仅与巴基斯坦，印度与中国的关系也可能恶化。

"We expect relations between India and China to remain tense+ and possibly to deteriorate further, despite the negotiated settlement to their three-month border standoff in August, elevating the risk of unintentional escalation," said Coats during a hearing on 'Worldwide Threat Assessment' of the US intelligence community yesterday.

寇兹在美国情报机构“全球威胁评估”听证会上表示，“我们预计中印关系将保持紧张状态，且可能进一步恶化，尽管他们协商解决了去年8月份的洞朗危机，意外升级的风险将增加。”

What the US's intelligence chief is talking about is the possibility that this tense truce, because of its fraught nature, may escalate tensions even if India and China don't provoke.
As it is, China's doing plenty to provoke.

美国国家情报局局长所说的是，由于本质原因，即使中印并不挑起事端，休战也可能加剧紧张局势。

For China it's economy first, it knows it just cannot afford a war as much as India cannot now. The risks are too great for China. At best China will try it's Doklam style intrusions which they also know is just for show with no real strategic gains.
