MIG 27 crashes in Jaisalmer district during routinemission

A MIG-27 fighter aircraft ofthe Indian Air Force crashed Tuesday in Eta village in Pokaran tehsil ofRajasthan's Jaisalmer district, a defence official said.

印度国防部一名官员说，本周二，印度空军一架米格27战斗机在拉贾斯坦邦Jaisalmer地区的Pokaran tehsil市的Eta村坠毁。

The pilot ejected safely,Defence spokesperson Col Sombit Ghosh said.

"A MIG 27 aircraftairborne from Jaisalmer crashed during a routine mission today evening. Pilotejected safely. A Court of Inquiry will investigate the cause of theaccident," Ghosh said.

The senior IAF officer alsosaid that more awareness need to be raised about bird activity, which is one ofthe factors for crash incidents, and hinted about civilian habitations nearairfields drawing bird activity.

Earlier airlfields used to belocated in wilderness, but now there is lot of built area near lot of thesebases, and solid waste attracts birds and, chances of accidents increase, hehad said in the press conference.

There should be a white paperon the number of MiGs that have crashed in this country. What is the percentageof their crashes in Russia? Do they crash here only in such large numbers? Whatis wrong with them? Or they flying coffins? Is it poor maintenance here orwhat?
