NEW DELHI: India asked Pakistan on Thursday to adhere to the 2003 ceasefire understanding and not use its violations at Line of Control(LoC) to provide cover for infiltration. The government said there had been over 1,000 violations from the Pakistani side of the 2003 ceasefire agreement between New Delhi and Islamabad in 2018 alone.

新德里：周四，印度要求巴基斯坦遵守2003年的停火协议，不要利用其在控制线的违规行为为渗透打掩护。印度政服表示，仅2018年，巴基斯坦方面就发生1000多起违反2003年印巴停火协议的事件。

"We always taken it very strongly, this matter of unprovoked ceasefire violation with the Pakistani side as it involves loss of life and property," MEA ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said. "In fact, only this year, in 2018, there have been over 1,000 unprovoked ceasefire violations by Pakistan," he said.

印度外交部发言人库马尔说，“我们一直非常重视这件事，巴基斯坦方面无端违反停火协议的行为，造成印度人员伤亡和财产损失。事实上，仅2018年，巴基斯坦就发生了1000多起无端违反停火协议的事件。”

Kumar said Pakistan used the ceasefire violation to infiltrate terrorists into India. He said: "We have seen the results of such infiltration in the past. We hope that Pakistan will realise what it is doing and adheres by the 2003 ceasefire agreement between the two countries." India announced a suspension of operations against militants in J&K and a border truce with Pakistan on May 16 for Ramzan. On Tuesday, defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman said forces will honour the Ramzan initiative.
