BEIJING: The Chinese military on Thursday criticised Army Chief General Bipin Rawat's recent remarks that Doklam is a disputed territory, asserting that it is very much part of China, and India should draw lessons from the 73-day standoff to avoid similar incidents in the future.

周四，中国军方批评印度陆军参谋长比平拉瓦特近期言论，后者称洞朗是争议地区，中国表示洞朗是中国的一部分，印度应该从洞朗对峙中汲取教训，避免今后发生类似事件。

Reacting for the first time to Gen Rawat's comments, Colonel Wu Qian, spokesman of the Chinese ministry of defence, told a media briefing that Doklam is a part of China.

中国国防部发言人吴谦首次在媒体吹风会上回应拉瓦特的言论，并称洞朗是中国的一部分。

Wu said the Indian side should draw lessons from the incident to avoid similar incidents in the future.

吴谦称，印方应该汲取教训，避免此类事件再次发生

Wu also denied reports that China plans to establish a military base or counter terrorism base in Afghanistan.

吴谦还否认了有关中国计划在阿富汗建立军事基地或反恐基地的报道。

I thought it was China which drew the critical lesson that this is Modi''s India of 21st century and not Nehru''s India of 1962 and hence they (Chinese) be better careful by restricting themselves to a bit of sumo wrestling at the borders instead of a full fledged war.
