NEW DELHI: Passengers of a New Delhi-bound train were caught by surprise on Tuesday as it ended up at the wrong station in the Capital, prompting the Railways to suspend an employee and launch an enquiry.

新德里:周二，一列搭乘开往新德里列车的乘客震惊地发现，列车竟然错开到了首都车站，铁路部因此将一名员工停职并开始调查原因。

Passenger train 64464 from Panipat was due to arrive at the New Delhi station at 7.30 AM. Instead it took a different course and reached the Old Delhi Railway Station at 7.50 AM. "On realising the mistake, the train was immediately sent back to the New Delhi station," a Northern Railway statement said.

来自帕尼帕的64464趟旅客列车本该于上午7时30分抵达新德里车站。但列车开错了路线，于早上7点50分抵达了老德里火车站。北方铁路在一份声明中说：“在发现这一错误后，列车立即开回了新德里车站”。

"The Log (panel) operator has been suspended and an inquiry has been initiated to find and fix responsibility of other erring staff," the statement added.

该声明补充说:“列车控制台的操作员已被停职，并已展开调查来查找并确定其他员工是否也负有责任。”

The Railways attributed the incident to a "miscommunication by the log operator".

铁道部将这一事件归因于“控制台操作员的操作失误”。

A Northern Railways spokesperson said the staffer mistook the train, which was running late, for another passenger train which was headed for the Old Delhi Railway Station from Sonipat.

一名北方铁路公司的发言人说，这名员工误把这趟晚点的列车和另外一趟由索尼帕特开往老德里火车站的列车搞混了。

Thank God at least this train reached some station in India itself, instead of reaching Pakistan. What would have happened if it had reached Pakistan? Also this might due to railway employees going on long leave and when the rejoin duty they do not know what they were doing. Only yesterday, the railways had dismissed 13,000 employess, who were on loooooooong leave.

列车还停在印度境内也是万幸，不然开到巴基斯坦就糟糕了。如果真开到巴基斯坦，会怎么样？还有啊，这件事肯定跟铁道部员工休长假，休假回来有点懵懵的。就在昨天，铁道部还开除了13000名员工，这些人都在休假呢。
