NEW DELHI: PM Narendra Modi attended the swearing-in of Ibrahim Solih as Maldives president on Saturday, a gesture seen to signal India's solidarity with the new government and a bid to reclaim space lost to Chinese influence under the previous Abdulla Yameen dispensation.
