孟买华人庆祝中国农历猪年

MUMBAI: Red lanterns and buntings began to make an appearance in Chinese homes and establishments across the city Monday as the community prepared to celebrate new year. Tuesday marks the onset of the Year of the Earth Pig.

周二预示着中国农历猪年的到来。这一天，孟买这座城市的华人家里都挂上了红红的灯笼，庆祝农历新年。

Celebrations began on new year's eve Monday with a grand lion dance near the Kwan Kung temple in Mazgaon. This is a doubly festive occasion for the quaint red shrine which steps into its centenary year. It was constructed in 1919.

周一，也就是除夕那一天，当地寺庙附近就举行了盛大的舞狮表演。

Scores of natives gathered to pray and offer incense at the temple Monday midnight. Among them was Dr Tse Yun Yi who had arrived from Thane with his sister, children and daughter-in-law. "Tuesday morning we will visit the Chinese cemetery in Wadala to offer prayers and food for the souls of the departed," he said. It is also customary for elders to present red envelopes bearing gifts of money to children and unmarried youngsters

当天深夜，几十名当地人聚在寺庙烧香拜拜。其中就有携带妹妹、孩子和女婿，一起从塔那赶来的Tse Yun Yi 博士。他说，“周二上午，我们将去瓦达拉的华人墓地扫墓。”

春节，长辈还会给小孩发红包。
