BEIJING: China has successfully placed in the Indian Ocean ten ocean seismometers which are used to measure earthquakes, volcanic eruptions or the use of explosives.

China's 49th ocean expedition team on Sunday placed ocean-bottom seismometers in the southwest Indian Ocean, with five more planned, state-run Global Times reported.

Fifteen ocean-bottom seismometers will be retrieved in the coming year, Science and Technology Daily reported on Monday.

中国成功在印度洋布放10个海洋地震仪，用来测量地震、火山爆发。

据环球时报报道，中国第49航次海洋探险队，在印度洋西南布放了海底地震仪，并计划再布放5个。

科技日报称，这15个海底地震仪将在未来一年取回。

Now India has a reason to do the same in South China sea! They already mapped the Indian ocean floor in the scam so called search for MH 370 and now with this, China''s aim is very clear. It is only for spying and will be expanded all over including Bay of Bengal and Arabian sea. Otherwise why it concerns China if there are explosions or volcanic eruptions in Indian ocean, far from any Chinese territories? Hope Modi and his Motu bhai are paying attention to these to counter it with back bone.

These must be listening devices and soon, China will claim Indian ocean as "Chinese territory, historically and traditionally". Why China wants to measure earthquakes, volcanos or anything else ? Anything happening in Indian ocean will not affect China at all.
