印媒：《厕所英雄》，这部印度电影在中国引起了共鸣

NEW DELHI: A Bollywood romantic comedy about the paucity of toilets for women in India has become an unlikely hit in China since it released last Friday, reported the South China Morning Post (SCMP) today.

据《南华早报》报道，一部关于印度女性没有厕所可上的浪漫喜剧，自从6月8日在中国上映以来，取得了不可能达到的成功。

The film? Akshay Kumar-starrer 'Toilet - Ek Prem Katha, or 'Toilet: A Love Story', topped the box office since its Chinese debut on Friday earning 66 million yuan, or US$10.3 million, in Chinese cinemas. The film released in India last August.

阿克谢库玛尔主演的电影《厕所英雄》，自从6月8日开始在中国上映以来，拿下了票房冠军，取得了6600万元的票房收入（1030万美元）。这部电影是去年8月在印度上映的。

Critics told the publication that the movie's theme resonated in China and did something China's movie industry doesn't do, that is, use a personal story to examine a larger social issue and so in an engaging way.

影评人对发行方说，这部电影在中国引起了共鸣，做了中国电影业没有做到的事情，那就是用个人故事来反应更大的社会问题，而且是以吸引人的方式。

"I like the movie because it directly points out a bad habit from traditional culture, it mocks bureaucracy, shows the emergence of feminism, and most importantly, does it in a funny way," said Sandy Liu, after watching the film.

Sandy Liu看完电影后说，“我喜欢这部电影，因为它直接披露了传统文化的陋习，嘲讽了官僚主义、表达了女权主义，最重要的是以一种搞笑的方式来表达。”

She added that China has a similar problem with public conveniences thought it may not be as acute as India's. In fact, she said that after watching the film she had to wait a little over seven minutes to use the restroom.

她又说，中国也存在类似的问题，不过没有印度那么尖锐。她说，看完电影后，她等了7分多钟才等到洗手间。

"China also has toilet issues, but it still is unbelievable for us to see those Indian women relieving themselves outdoors. For Chinese women, the problem lies in public toilets - to make them cleaner and the waiting times shorter," she added.

“中国也存在厕所问题。不过看到印度女性在户外方便，我们还是难以置信。对中国女性来说，问题出在公厕，公厕得保持清洁，减少排队时间。”

So everywhere for women problem is there for public toilets. In that sense, this film will definitely send a clear message for authorities in different nations.

I have lived in China for almost a year and am not surprised why this particular Bollywood film appealed to the Chinese. I am certain it must have come as a revelation to the Chinese and must have made them reflect about their own dirty habits. I must confess though that China is a vast country and generalising that all Chinese are dirty would be wrong. However, about the region in the north and adjacent to Tianjin , one can say with certainty that Chinese are indeed dirty. They don''t close toilet doors while using these toilets and even in decent and pricey restaurants, you can see locals spitting and blowing their noses while inside the restaurants.

我在中国住了差不多一年。对于这部宝莱坞电影能吸引中国人，我不感到意外。

这部电影给中国人带来了启示，让中国人反思自己的不良习惯。

不得不承认，中国是一个幅员辽阔的国家，各地存在差异，不能笼统地说中国人怎么怎么样

不过在北方，人们上厕所不关门的，就是在高档餐馆上厕所也不关门。你会看到当地人在餐馆吃饭还吐痰、擤鼻涕...
