哈尔滨最牛钉子户致十车道变弯曲两车道，外国网友大感意外

Stubborn property owners in north China refused to have their seven-storey building taken down for local town development.

The surrounded 10-lane road has had to narrow down to two single roads as cars drove past the building.

Pictures emerged showing the diamond-shaped road packed with cars at both ends as drivers wait to detour around the building block in the middle of the road.

According to sina.com, the re-routed road was open on December 2 in a residential area at Haxi New Area of Harbin, Heilongjiang Province.

One seven-storey building block was isolated from other buildings as a two-way road built around it.

It's reported that apartment owners living in the building refused to have their homes demolished as requested by the local urban planning bureau.

Both parties failed to agree on the compensation terms.

哈尔滨市哈西新区的和谐大道至群力新区的兴江路新打通的道路通车了。由于被城乡路附近的一栋老居民楼和楼前的棚户区所阻挡，道路被迫绕出了两个完全对称的弯道，成了当地的一道“风景”。

道路变窄，车流明显受到阻挡，遇交通高峰期会形成堵车。

和谐大道和兴江路都是双向十车道的宽敞道路，如果完全打通，当地交通将变得更加顺畅和便利。

Solution: Use Eminent Domaine to acquire several ground floor apartments and put the road through the building - with a bus stop inside for residents.

@Bill In The Desert Typical of a resident of the US to assume their laws apply to other countries, (I don't know) perhaps China has no concept of eminent domain (or as it is in the UK, compulsory purchase).
