couple of years ago in 2015 MIT Technology Review ranked Xiaomi number 2 on their list of 50 Smartest Companies -- a list that also had companies like Apple Google and Microsoft who were rated far below the Chinese smartphone and smart home products maker. This was exactly a year after Xiaomi landed in India -- the company's biggest market outside of China. In almost three years the company has since become the number two brand in the overall Indian smartphone market behind the long-standing leader Samsung. India is a very important market for smartphone makers as it is expected to double in size in terms of sales by the year 2020. In the last three years smartphone sales have tripled in the country to 120 million in 2016.

In a letter to all Xiaomi employees in July 2017 CEO Lei Jun shared that the company aims to ship 100 million smartphones globally in 2018. Jun is of course banking on the great strides Xiaomi has made in the Indian market to achieve that target.

Humble beginning
In July 2014 Xiaomi launched its first smartphone the Mi 3 in India. It was a small press conference with a handful of media in a small hall -- not the usual hotel ballroom where most press conferences happen.

Naah I would suggest to wait until you bag that perfect phone bundled with the perfect chip. Ofc SD 625 is the shiz for now but reading about new Qualcomm chips (660 and 450 purported to be the mini 625) makes me want to get that advantage of delayed gratification (not for me but my dad he needs to replace his phone with nice low-key phone but I want him to have it with all the tech and the price factor. I already did while waiting for a perfect phone with a perfect chip: OP3).

We Indians can only be thankful for Xiaomi phones. They have done to mobile hardware what Jio did to data. Quality service reasonable price. It's almost unreal how well my 1.5 years old Redmi Note 3 performs for that price very very satisfied. Why would one go back to other brands? Probably OnePlus is the only meaningful upgrade over a Xiaomi Redmi phone. Rest don't matter.

I had the same thought but after the miui 9 global beta iam thinking of changing roms miui9 doesn't have multi view and other features for redmi note3 and on custom side we have oreo with very few bugs like hotspot etc;

There were two reasons because of which I was a bit inclined towards G5S Plus: 1. Turbocharger 2. A1 has USB type C which is of course better but I have got many backup chargers for Moto in cases of emergency.
