At least 2 decades.

Assuming Chinese GDP gets frozen ( approx 11.6 tril US $) , even if we ( our GDP approx 2.4 tril US $) grow continuously at 8 % , we may catch up in 9–10 years.
Their Productivity /skill levels are higher , esp in Mfg .
In tech Devpt too , they are ahead of us.

While India has lot of strengths and has better technologies in a few areas , the sad part is , our system drags us down to perform far below our potential.

Successive Govts have neglected creating proper Eco-system for “ Skill Development , Productivity , Global scale , Global competitiveness , Technology Development ,Innovation etc” . These issues don’t connect with Electorate and they continue to rely on Vote Bank Politics

Hi,
it depends on the area you are talking about
if we talk about democracy,freedom of speech and expression and other citizen rights then China is more than thousands years behind India.
Economy-India is not much behind of China
Science & Tech-In many areas India is at par with china specifically in space and it’s behind china in things like defense industries etc
Education-India is not much behind China but improvement is required specifically in R&D
Administration- The kind of government is there in China you will always like their admin better than India because in democracy people voice is given priority which is never there in china
What we have they don’t have and not going to have in next 100 years but what they have we can have in near future

取决于你谈的方面。

As an Indian, I must agree.
Economically, 2 decades.
Politically, 1 decade or so (there are too many irresponsible politicians in India, but India is a democracy so we do not fall behind by far).
Socially, 5 decades (as long as we still have caste issues and the largest religious conflicts between Hindus and Muslims).

The comparison is a dumb concept especially when you're talking about a democracy and a socialist republic.
China, for development, can kill their people, take their land, impose laws that can ruin lives and can do almost anything be because noone will oppose.
India, on the other hand, has democracy. We have to solve issues with even two people opposing something legally. We can't just say give us the land and go away. It doesn't work that way. Development takes time when you have to think about everything.

I reckon that we will be ahead of China in about 10 years. Despite all the propaganda, the Chinese machine is fast losing steam.
