BEIJING: China on Friday successfully launched a high orbit satellite to boost its home-grown BeiDou global satellite navigation system being built to rival United States Global Position System (GPS).

The satellite was launched from the Xichang Satellite Launch Centre in the southwestern Sichuan Province, state-run Xinhua reported.

Launched on a Long March-3B carrier rocket, it is the 41st of the BeiDou navigation system, and will work with 16 other Beidou-3 satellites already in orbit, the report said.

周五，中国在西昌卫星发射中心，用长征三号乙运载火箭，成功发射了一枚高轨道卫星。该卫星是第四十一颗北斗导航卫星。北斗是和美国GPS竞争的全球卫星导航系统。

Silly bloody question, but to my certain knowledge, India has its very own Desi Global Positioning System (GPS) NavIC (‘Navigation with Indian Constellation") so why no mention in article??
