NEW DELHI: BJP MLA Surendra Singh has once again courted controversy by opining that prostitutes are better than government officials, reported news agency ANI.

新德里：据印度新闻通讯社亚洲国际新闻社报道，印度人民党邦议会议员穆拉·苏伦德拉·辛格再次因发表妓女也比政服官员强的言论引发争议。

A day after asking people to thrash bureaucrats if they demand bribes, Singh made the bizarre comparison between government officials and prostitutes at a public gathering.

在要求人们暴打索贿官僚后的第二天，辛格在一次公众集会上把政服官员和妓女进行了莫名其妙的比较。

"Prostitutes are better than government officials; at least they take money and do their work and also dance on the stage. But these officials, even after taking money, don't do their work. There is no guarantee that the work will be done," he said.

他称，“妓女也比政服官员强；至少妓女拿钱干活，还在舞台上跳舞。但是这些官员，即使拿了钱也不做事。谁也无法保证他们会完成自己的工作”。

"If he does not agree to do his work, teach him a lesson by punching him and if he still does not agree, thrash him with shoes," he said.

他说:“如果他不愿意做他的分内工作，给他打一拳，给他点教训，如果他还是不同意，就用鞋底抽他。”

The BJP leader has a long and colourful history of making controversial statements. Last month, he compared UP minister and president of Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) Om Prakash Rajbhar to a prostitute and accused him of minting money by inducting his family members into politics.

Responding to Rajbhar's allegations of corruption against the ruling BJP, Singh had said, "Vaishya ko puri duniya vaishya dikhti hai (A prostitute sees all like herself)."

In the run-up to the Gorakhpur bypolls, he had said the 2019 Lok Sabha elections would be a battle between "Islam and Bhagwan".

He had also faced flak for calling West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee 'Surpanakha’, the sister of demon king Ravana in Ramayana.
