A majority ofcontenders vying for the smart city tag still have a lot of catching up to doin terms of using the digital platform as an interface between citizens and theadministration, a study shows.
Of the 98potential smart cities studied, 17 have no official websites while three do nothave theirs in working condition. More than half the cities have not put up anyupdates so far about ongoing smart-city initiativeswhile 64% have not invited suggestions from the public in this regard. About93% of the cities are yet to link their websites with those of their stategovernments’.

Smart CityWatch, the study conducted by the Centre for Environmental Planning andTechnology University, Ahmedabad, to analyse how these 98 cities are usingonline platforms to share information about their preparedness and engaging thepublic, found most of them faring poorly.
“This is just the beginning.Greater preparedness to undertake smart city initiatives will come as we goalong,” an official in the urban development ministrysaid.

On the threeparameters studied –municipalities’ own official websites, MyGov.in and Facebook pages – 24 cities including Varanasi, Aligarh, Allahabad, Ghaziabad,Moradabad, Bihar Sharif, Bhagalpur, Ranchi and Visakhapatnam were among thelowest scorers with hardly any digital initiative taken. Mangaluru,Tiruchirapalli, Indore, Raipur, Jaipur and Surat were among the top scorers.

智慧城市观察，是由环境规划与科技大学的艾哈迈达巴德研究主导的，它分析了这98个城市是如何利用网络平台分享他们的“发展计划”和公共信息，结果表明他们多数（城市）均处于窘境当中。
“这仅仅才开始。万事已俱备，随着我们的跟进，保证智慧型城市将会有进一步的发展”。城市发展部的一名官员说道。

对于这三项指数的调查——政府官方网站，MyGov.in 和 脸书——包括瓦拉纳西，阿里，阿拉哈巴德，比哈尔加济阿巴德，莫拉达巴德，谢里夫，巴加尔布尔，兰契和维萨卡帕特南，等24个城市指数得分最低，几乎没有任何（发展规划）动作。而 mangaluru，蒂鲁吉拉伯利，印多尔，赖布尔，斋浦尔，苏拉特得分均名列前茅。

At a time whenFacebook has emerged as a vital tool for sharing information, 70% of themunicipalities in these cities do not have a smart city page on the socialnetwork.

“One of the basic steps forany city to be smart is to have an online platform for reaching out to a wideraudience on what initiatives are being taken,” saidSaswat Bandyopadhyay, professor of planning at CEPT University, mentoring thestudy.
“Through this survey, wewanted to find out how cities fare on these indicators. Cities weremapped on the theme of public data openness with simple aspects such as whetherthe probable smart city has a web page or whether it has initiated citizens’ engagement through MyGov.”
Smart CityWatch is a voluntary initiative by students and alumni of CEPT University’s urban planning department.

But it is the countrymen who are not leaving the habits of queueing up.Faster internets are available in prominent cities. We should acknowledge thegovernment efforts than habit of bashing all the time.

Yes we do have a top class tax software butthe humans operating it are third class and wherever human intervention isrequired - the service either becomes corrupt or slow.
