NEW DELHI: In the face of a rapidly ageing population and a shrinking work force+ , China has been overstating its population number for decades, a US academic said this week, according to China Banking News.

新德里：面对不断增加的老龄化人口和不断减少的劳动力人口，中国几十年来都在高估自己的人口数量，一美国学者本周如是说，China Banking News报道。

Beijing's numbers suggest China has 90 million more people than it actually has, according to data compiled by Yi Fuxian, a University of Wisconsin-Madison researcher.

北京提供的数据将中国人口高估了9000万，这是威斯康星大学研究员 Yi Fuxian得出的结论。
