Nobody seems to understand them yet and there is nobody to enforce any rules so I've just seen people avoiding the signs and carrying on as usual. It's about the first five carriages as well which is a bit over the top if they don't expect any man to get on. You take any space you can get at rush hour in Shenzhen好像还没人理解他们的用意,也没人强制执行规则,所以我见人们装作无视标志,照行不误。

I feel for these guys. After living a few years in China I went to Dubai on a business trip and rode on their elevated train. Got on in my sweaty clothing and all these women are staring at me. One of them finally says something to me "You're in the women's car." First thought that came to mind Why the hell do women need their own car? and then one second later I was like Oh right Sharia law... and started looking around for a guy with a sword about to come at me. True story.

“Priority for women does not mean exclusively for women” an official was quoted as saying. “If other carriages are full male passengers will be directed to these carriages as well.”
The problem is there are no rules. It's just a courtesy to allow women on board first. Well screw that during the rush hour nobody is going to have the ability to move over to a different carriage just because the first car is women first. The platforms aren't built to allow people to easily shuffle around and move to the proper car. I already took line 1 of the GZ Metro and was apparently at the women's car (it's like the first 5 doors of the train) and when I realized my mistake by seeing the flowery signs inside I looked to move over to a different car but it was so crowded me and every other guy in line just said f' it.

It's supposed to give women priority to sit down men are allowed inside. Still a stupid idea.

If you want women to have priority you have to actually enforce the rules.
What is it with government employees here and switching schizophrenically between draconian psychosis and apathy at the drop of a hat?
This test for women-priority won't even last the Summer in Guangzhou. They don't have any control over it because the line is too crowded so it would be a clusterfuck if they start telling the men to wait for the ladies to board. And what's even the point of letting the men on the same train? They're still going to be tucked in like sardines and already be groping everyone around them thanks to the rush hour foot traffic. And when the ladies want to get off sucks to be them because they'll be in the back of the carriage and all the big burly men in the front blocking the doors.

The subway authority is testing the scheme to “give more care and respect to women” but no more details were given for what prompted the initiative.
Women hold up half the sky but they need to be segregated from men because they're special little flowers. :-P
HarringtonHC
Misogyny and didn't read the article! First women are getting groped on the train during rushhour in Chinese subways. It's gotten a lot of complaints. Secondly there is no rule of women only. The request is to give women priority TO SIT.

Why are they even needed in China? I know that the subways in some countries can be kinda dangerous at times and that other subways (i.e. Japan's) are full of perverted fucks but I've never really heard stories about either in China aside from the odd lunatic every now and then.
There was one story of a woman getting groped a while back somewhere but that was outside the subway train itself and she ended up beating the shit out of him.
Gdxiyos
I have to agree with the CCP spawn on that one priority does not mean exclusivity. If other carriages are full (and they always are jam packed during rush hour) then men should be allowed to use these too. Otherwise it's a waste of space and resources.“拥有优先权并不意味着排外”,这点我不得不同意共产党。
