BEIJING: China has launched its first domestically designed and built aircraft carrier, state media said on Wednesday, as the country seeks to transform its navy into a force capable of projecting power onto the high seas.

The ship was "transferred from dry dock into the water at a launch ceremony" in the northeastern port of Dalian, according to the official Xinhua news agency.

据新华社报道，随着中国寻求将海军改革为一支具有远洋投送能力的力量，中国首艘自主设计建造的航母正式下水。

报道称，北方港口大连市，仪式上，航母从干船坞下水。

It is the country's second carrier. The first, the Liaoning, is a secondhand Soviet ship built more than 25 years ago. The vessel was commissioned by China's navy in 2012 after extensive refits.

China's defence ministry has previously said that the new carrier would displace 50,000 tonnes and use conventional rather than nuclear propulsion.

这是该国第二艘航母。

第一艘航母辽宁号，是25年前建的苏联二手航母。

2012年，经过翻新后加入中国海军。

中国国防部之前表示，新航母排水量5万吨，属于常规动力，不是核动力。

In the last twenty years India seem to have completely mismanaged its defence priorities. Country is lagging on all counts – defensive and offensive capabilities – against China. When China can build domestic aircraft carrier within 5 years, Indian politician and Navy were busy shopping the defunct carriers from Russia at enormous and exorbitant cost, and it will not be ready at least next 2 years.

过去20年里，印度似乎完全搞错了国防发展的重点。

国家各方面全面落后

不仅是对中国的防御能力，还是进攻能力，都不够

中国能在5年内造出航母，印度政客和海军却忙着花大钱从俄罗斯采购已经报废的航母

而且至少未来2年都没法交货。
