BEIJING: Chinese official media and Twitteratiare fuming over US presidential candidate Hilary Clinton's tweet questioningpresident Xi Jinping's decision to co-host a UN women's rights conference.

针对习近平主席共同主持一项联合国妇女权利峰会的决定，美国总统候选人希拉里·克林顿的在微博上给予了强烈的质疑和抨击，此事件在中国官方媒体和推特圈已经沸沸扬扬。

“XI在联合国主持妇女峰会，与此同时中国还在逮捕女权运动人士，简直是毫无羞耻(shameless)。” 在推特上，希拉里·克林顿写道。

She echoed many rights groups, who have beencritical of detention of five women rights' activists in China. The outpouringof anger was such that Chinese censors even permitted strong phrases like"old witch" to describe Clinton. Many angry people cited her husbandand ex-president Bill Clinton's relationship with then While House internMonica Lewinsky in their posts.

The Communist Party backed Global Times citedClinton's tweet and called it an attempt to copy Republican candidate DonaldTrump to garner votes using China bashing ploy . The paper described her as"a rabble-rouser" engaged in "ignominious shenanigans".

具有中共背景的《环球时报》引用了希拉里克林顿的微博，称此举是为了试图效仿前共和党候选人唐纳德·特朗普的利用抨击中国的策略来获取选票。文章将她描述为“一个政治煽动者”从事的“可耻骗局”。
