Germany should show asylum seekers it has “no tolerance” for sexual assaults, the government’s integration commissioner said, as she called for targeted sex education for refugees, in the wake of a high-profile rape case.

The integration commissioner also expressed her support for the violence prevention programs that intentionally recruit their staff from among men, including those with migrant backgrounds.

The incident has sparked a wave of public indignation as people particularly decried the authorities’ inaction in the face of a growing number of crimes allegedly committed by foreigners; many also claim that the “multiculturalist” policies of the government are to blame for what had happened.
