Social media went into a tizzy on Monday after a viral video of a family being asked to leave a Mumbai multiplex for allegedly refusing to stand up during the national anthem.

Sources said the management at central Mumbai’s PVR Kurla stopped the screening of a movie at a late Saturday evening show after audience members complained about one family who were allegedly not standing up for the anthem. Several people got into a bitter verbal altercation with the family, who were immediately asked to leave, following which the screening was resumed.

A viral video titled ‘Muslim family thrown out of the cinema hall’ showed people threatening the family and the hall erupting in applause when they were asked to go – sparking strong reactions on Twitter and YouTube.

“The manager said they asked the family to leave after people protested. However, there was nothing to do with the religion of the family if they are Hindu or Muslim. There is no case registered,” said a police officer from Ghatkopar police station. No case has been registered yet.

Standing up for the national anthem that is played in several multiplex chains across the country has emerged as a delicate issue in recent years.

The subject made headlines last year after Bollywood actress Priety Zinta tweeted she had thrown out an audience member who hadn’t stood up for the national anthem, drawing stinging criticism from Twitterati. 

这个话题去年也曾变成头条。宝莱坞女星Priety Zinta在Twitter上po文她把一位没有在国歌期间站立的观众赶出电影院，此事在Twitter上引起尖锐的批评。

In October, actors Kushal Tandon and Ameesha Patel got into a slanging match on Twitter over the same issue.

​Any swabhimaani Indian will feel bad by seeing such disrespect to our nation. If I would have been there my blood would also have been boiled. So whatever happened that is good thing and we should reward those patriotic men .

Nothing wrong in throwing out someone who doesnt respect National anthem or the flag. Perfect treatment ... it is a central and state wise rule, where national anthems will be and should be played in cinema halls - atleast for that instance, people would show respect to the flag ...

It's morally wrong but not legally . Throwing out someone for not standing up is legally wrong ,so yeah they were wrong .
the important thing here is to understand the fact that muslims belong to no nation they only belong to there religion ,it's not just india it's everywhere in the world .
There religion brainwash them from an early age which results in permanent damage to there way of thinking that's why we shouldn't consider muslims same as us they r sick from disease named islam.
